Angel - Chapter twelve Chapter 12

She walked into rooms she had never seen before, ones Erik probably didn't even use. She was confused and lost, and was worried so much she felt sick. She soon found herself in a small room with just a desk in it, and she sat down in the chair.
She looked at the desk and saw a small piece of paper. It was folded in half and had writing on it. She picked it up and saw that it was a little card. On the front was a drawing of an angel, and on the inside it read
"Christine, you sang like an angel tonight. Love always and forever,, Erik".

"Mon ange..." She said as she felt tears start to form in her eyes as she thought of her Erik. She thought of all the possibilities of where Erik could be. He might've fled the building when he heard someone coming into his home. Or he might have stayed. Her thoughts were interrupted by a quiet moan coming from the dark corner of room.

"Erik?" She said as she picked up the candle and brought it to the corner. It was Erik. But he was hurt. He was slumped in the corner at an awkward angle, and she could see he was in severe pain.

"Oh, God, Erik, what happened?" She asked as she lowered her body down next to him. He turned a little to left, and Christine saw a huge gash in his head.

"Erik, we have to get you help....You're bleeding, and is anything else wrong?"

"I think my ribs....he hit me with something....I heard...a crack..." He managed to speak at barely a whisper . Christine cringed at the thought of hearing your own bones cracking.

"Wait-Erik, who is he? Who did this to you?" He took in a deep breath, which obviously cause him pain, because he gasped.

"Erik who?" And she heard him whisper one word.

"Josh."

"I should've known...I knew he'd do something like this when...Erik, he saw us..he saw us together backstage, what if he tells and...well, that doesn't matter right now, we have to get you help. You've probably lost a lot of blood. I think we should go to the emergency room."

"No, Christine no...they'll ask all kinds of things and...no..." He pleaded.

"But Erik-"

"No. I'll be fine."

"But-fine then, I have a different idea. Erik, wait here, okay? I'm going to get someone to help you."

"Who?! You can't bring anyone down here...I'll come with you."

"No, you might hurt yourself more...Erik, I'm going to find Meg. Her mother is a nurse. She'd know what to do for you, okay? I'm going to get Meg to get her mother and then everything will be okay." She had a feeling Mrs.Giry would help. She volunteered as a nurse at a free clinic, where all sorts of different people came.

"So Erik, please, just stay here, I'll be back as soon as I can." She kissed his unmasked cheek, and stood up. She quickly walked through the darkness, thinking of how she would tell Meg about Erik...
