Christine woke to find herself in a room that she knew she had been in before. She was lying on a bed and her head ached terribly. She thought she had a fever too, because she felt hot. She tried to sit up, but fell back down onto the pillow.
Suddenly she heard footsteps and she turned her head slightly. She saw Erik walking into the room with a glass of water.
"Erik? What happened?"
"Its my fault Christine. You must have ran and you fainted. We meet like this far too many times." He said seriously.
"I feel sick."
"I think you have a fever."
"Erik, was it a dream? Did I tell you?"
"Um, yes. I'm sorry I was angry. But you didn't know what you were saying. You were upset. Now rest." He said to her, giving her the glass of water. She sat it down on the table next to her.
"No I knew perfectly well what I was saying. Erik, can't you see? I have feelings for you. Why can't you accept that someone loves you?" He cringed at her words.
"No one, not even a mother, could love such a face like mine." He whispered.
"I don't care about how you look. I love you." She finally said, smiling faintly.
"Christine hush, your delirious." He told her.
"Kiss me, Erik."
"You have a fever Christine, you don't know what your talking about!" He said uncomfortably.
"For God's sake Erik, shut up and kiss me." She insisted.
"Go to sleep Christine."
"Damn it, Erik! Give me a kiss. Please?" She asked pleadingly.
"I...can't.."
"Yes you can. I love you Erik." Christine thought she saw him smile a bit, but maybe it was only the flicker of the candlelight. She managed to sit up in the bed and Erik backed away.
"Jesus, Erik, stop it. I won't hurt you." She leaned forward and hugged him. He was startled but hugged her back. She faced him, and pressed her lips to his. Christine thought he was going to have a heart attack or something, the way he reacted. But then, he returned the kiss. It become more passionate and full of..love? Yes, love. And Erik realized something.
