New Model Army are a modern punk band, more melodic than many of their classic counterparts and widely respected for their unwavering political stance and working-class ethics. The band was named after the English revolutionary army of Oliver Cromwell. Led by guitarist/vocalist Justin Sullivan (who goes by the name Slade The Leveller), the group has an extremely loyal core following. At their best, the Army's music is intense, angry, and powerful; the group experiments frequently with quieter, acoustic material, which sometimes captures the feel of their best punk work and sometimes doesn't.
