| 'Down with Love is a movie made in 2003 that is set in 1962 New York City. It is about Barbra Novack (Renee Zellweger) an author that has come to NY to publish her new book "Down With Love". It is a book about women being able to succeed in the work force by saying no to love, not sex. She plas up with her editor Vikki Hiller (Sarah Paulson). Novak is suppose to meet with Know Magazines jourlist Catcher Block (Ewan McGregor) and the owner of the magazine Peter MacMannus (David Hyde Pierce). But every time they are to meet Catcher is with one of his many girlfriends. When they finally do meet, Catcher, knowing that Barbra refuses to meet with him changes his idenity to an Astronaut that has just come back from orbit and changes his accent to a Southern Hickand his name to Zip Martin.They date during the rest of the movie until the twist towards the end. After the important twist during the movie Barbra and Vikki start they own magaine... Now... which leads to a new twist at the very end. A special addition to the movie is Tony Randall. This movie as you can tell is based on the Doris Day and Rock Hudson bedroom comedy of the late 50s and early 60s... specifically Pillow Talk that is on the left. |
