In my opinion, the Sleepaway Camp series is one of the most fun to watch. Even though Sleepaway Camp 2 and 3 are excellent in their own way, this original is my favorite of the series. While the sequels are more camp and humorous, this one stays towards being serious. The first time I saw this was in 1990. I was at a gas station/video store looking for someting to watch. The main movie I wanted was Evil Dead 2 but it was out. Since I had to take a mad piss I just picked the first movie I saw which was this. I loved it then and I love it now. The plot is as follows: When Angela was a child, she was in a boating accident in which her father and her brother(?) were killed in. She was then sent to stay with her cross dressing uncle. Years later, Angela goes to a summer camp with her cousin Ricky. She doesnt talk to anyone and refuses to swim in the lake or take a shower with the girls. All the other girls and boys at the camp pick up on her weird behavior (especially the evil slut Judy) and begin to taunt her endlessly. It seems someone doesn't like this as all the kids who taunt her begin to drop dead from mysterious "accidents". Not till the end do you find out someone's little secret and it is definitely a shocker!.....This is a really enjoyable movie even though it's small budget disables it from showing some of the actual murder scenes until the person is already dead (example:in the bee sting death, the bees are never actually shown until we see the dead body). But even with these little things i HIGHLY recommend this film!
