REVIEWS

Since Dawn of the Dead was released in 1978, I never got a chance to see it the theater since I hadn't even been born yet.  As a child I was always hooked on horror movies but it wasnt till the early 90's that I got to see Dawn of the Dead.  I had been talking to one of my mom's friends from work about some good horror movies and she mentioned to me that I have to go rent this movie called Dawn of the Dead.  She mentioned how near the end a bunch of bikers start throwin pies in the zombies faces. So naturally I thought "Damn, that sounds pretty sweet". So a couple days later I ran out to the video store but being the idiot i am, i accidentally grabbed Day of the Dead thinking that was the one she was talking about.  I watched the movie but once it reached the end i was like "where the hell are the pies dammit??!!?". So when I returned it, I checked and this time I got the right movie.  Expecting it to be just a funny movie about zombies, i was incredibly mistaken and realized that it was thee greatest movie I have ever seen. I went out and bought it the next day and have watched it nearly 100 times since then. The movie is a continuation of Night of the Living Dead and the zombie plague has spread throughout most of the world. It begins in a telivision station with a woman named Fran. Everyone there is going nuts and most of them are abandoning their posts. Her boyfriend Stephen soon comes and tells her she must meet him on the roof later to fly to Canada in the traffic helicoptor. Their friend who is going with them, Roger, is part of a S.W.A.T team at a building and when they take over the building they find most of the apartments being inhabited by zombies. It is here that Roger meets Peter, another SWAT member who wants to get away from all this mess too so Roger invites him along.  They all fly off together and after a couple days of flight they come across a shopping mall. They stop here to take a rest but soon realize that they could have a good thing going there so they decide to stay.  They kill all the zombies in the mall and block all the exits. But their problems are not over there.  They must deal with the fact of living in isolation and must later deal with a horde of bikers who break in, which lets in all the zombies too.  The filming in this movie is breathtaking with the direction by George Romero and the score by Goblin and all the mall music is the most memorable music in film history and will just get stuck in your head.  Of course this wouldn't be a good review without the mention of the awesome special fx done by FX GOD Tom Savini who also does some stunts in the movie and plays one of the main bikers at the end named Blade.  This movie would not have been as good if the actors didn't seem real but through out this entire movie you will care and feel for Fran, Stephen, Roger, and Peter and all four actors (Gaylen Ross, David Emge, Scott Reinigir and Ken Foree) have truly amazing acting abilities. I give this film (obviously) 5 stars outta 5!!!
