| Cemetery Man is easily one of the most creative and atmospheric movies ever made. From the staged shots such as when Francesco shoots off the wing of an angel statue ,then as the camera pans up, the wings are placed behind him to make it look as if he were the angel. This was yet another movie that I didn't really appreciate until years after it's initial release. The plot of Cemetery Man (Dellamorte Dellamore) starts out simple enough. Rupert Everett plays Francesco Dellamorte, a watchman or "engineer" of the Resurrection Cemetery. His only companion in the world is his man-child assistant Gnaghi. His job in this Cemetery is to kill and re-bury the undead when they rise from their graves. It seems that because of something in the roots, it makes the dead rise after approximately 7 days of death. Each day the same..lonely. Until the day he meets a beautiful woman played by Anna Falchi. This is where the movie explodes into all different directions. After the woman dies, Francesco begins meeting different re-incarnations of the woman and wants to be with her but things get difficult from such things as the bus of cub scouts that were killed and begin to rapidly return to life along with a Deathly figure who begins appearing to Francesco telling him to kill people who are still alive. You really have to pay attention while watching this movie or you WILL be lost. The direction is superb..very reminiscent of Peter Jackson and Dario Argento and Rupert Everett is excellent as the doomed Francesco. ***** outta ***** | ||||||||||||||||
