As far as Veggie videos go, this was fairly middle-of-the-road. Not as hilarious as King George and the Ducky, nor as touching as A Snoodle's Tale. It was also one of the few Veggie movies where I didn't really like the main segment. I got a huge kick out of "Going Up", a silent film about perseverence, and also "Lutfi's Fanciful Flannelgraph", the story of St. Patrick told with typical Veggiestyle humor. But "The Sumo of the Opera" itself seemed oddly lacking in . . . well, a lot. Humor, empathy for the characters... all that. Very odd. Larry's Silly Song wasn't all that silly, either, except for the fact that it was a polka instead of a rock song. The songs pretty much all reminded me of the clips of Strong Bad's grammar songs ("Y-O-U-R. Y-O-U-apostrophe-R-E. They're as different as night and day. Don't you think that night and day are different? What's wrong with you?") except not as funny. This is certainly worth watching for the first twenty minutes or so, but the last twenty are pretty blah.

Memorable quotes:
"Hello, children. I am friendly and I am kind. I am also teensy-weensy!"

"Ze piano must go up!"

"I'm a normal boy. A normal boy with a strange name."

"And they painted with all the colors of the wind."

(said by Pa Grape)
"Before my knee surgery, of course."
