Well, this is certainly no Napoleon Dynamite. But I think it's safe to say if you didn't like Napoleon, you won't like this either. Although this isn't nearly as funny as the Hesses' first movie, it's very similar in its feel - totally deadpan, very rambly and with not much going on. Jack Black is beautifully not-over-the-top here (except for one scene which I felt didn't really work) - and it's often the fact that everything's so underplayed that makes it actually funny. However, that being said, it dragged on much more than Napoleon did. Even though Napoleon had almost no plot, it managed to make every moment interesting. This had a much more intricate plot, but somehow wasn't as interesting to watch. Too bad. Not a bad effort, but likely to disappoint Napoleon fans.
