As I sit down to write this review, I realize that I remember very little of this movie. I had to think for a full five minutes to remember the plotline. Doesn't say much for the originality, does it? This movie definitely wasn't a Hitchcock greatest. It was stretched out far too long, subjecting us to Doris Day's three-verse rendition of "Que Sera Sera" not once, not twice, but THREE times. Not to mention the many moments that had my mother and I looking at each other and thinking, "This sure makes Americans look stupid," and chuckling. Why could nobody in this movie think intelligently? I'm not sure. Why have some people acclaimed this as one of the greatest Hitchcock thrillers of all time? I am REALLY not sure.
