I saw two prison camp escape movies right in a row (the other one being The Bridge on the River Kwai) and they sort of blended together. But this one was far lighter than the other one. It still had a darkish ending, but all through it there was a bit of mischievous adventurous spirit peeking through. I did like it while I was watching it, but afterwards thought, "Oy. That was 2 1/2 pretty much wasted." That's another bone I must pick with it - it was SO long and slow! But...could maybe recommend it for an evening of boredom.
