As I've stated before, I have a fascination with stories about personality disorders... and Howard Hughes was certainly abounding with them! However this film wasn't primarily about his struggle with germaphobia or agoraphobia or paranoia. It was mostly just about.. HIM. And while I normally don't like biographic epics (which is, yeah, pretty much what this was) it was an interesting enough story that I stayed intrigued all the way through. Plus I'm intrigued by watching actors tackle the formidable task of portraying real people in show business, and I must say they all did a fabulous job. Cate and Kate both were marvelous in their roles - they managed to capture the spirit of the people they were portraying. So... yes. This movie was worth seeing. It's long and it's rather dark but it's every bit as good as people are saying it is.Memorable quotes:
"Howard?"
"Yeah?"
"There's a rather alarming mountain heading our way."
"Juan Trippe is not a man who is interested in making money."
"Well, I'm sure his shareholders will be happy to hear that."
Musical Theater Person Sighting: That's Brent Spiner as the dude that Howard Hughes asks to clean off his lapel. His own lapel, that is, not Howard Hughes. That would be REALLY weird. "Hey, dude, I've got something on my lapel. Clean it off, will you?"
