Try this first:
1. Close down BlackIce by using Control+Alt+Delete and close both
BlackIce and blackd.
2. Go into your BlackIce folder and open License.txt and change the
serial to:
v1.9.4 BBAB0-RS-0CCFA.
v1.9.6 125200-RS-0D19A
v1.9.25 F0F5D-RS-5856C
3. Close and save License.txt.
You should then be able to install the upgrade. BlackIce compares the 2
serials. Since they are now the same, BlackIce should upgrade.
If the above does not work you'll have to do the following:
1: Uninstall any version of BlackICE Defender that you may have
2: Run Regedit and do a search for the word 'black'... delete any
instances of it that relate to BlackICE
3: Reboot (may not be necessary but what the hell!)
4: If the folder that BlackICE was installed in was not deleted during
the uninstall, delete it now manually
5: Run "bidef.exe" to install the new version... enter this code
when asked...

If you try to run this update over the top of your existing version,
you'll get a nice message in the BlackICE window when you open it
informing you that the program has shut down and is no longer doing
anything constructive.
