The Long Island Round Robin has been completed! The winneras expected was Adhar, with Tom Defranco coming in second place. Alex Buller won the covetous best timer award. Best poker playing goes to John Shultz who ended the day up about $120 (I went down $15). In poker the big loser of the day was the heavily favored Petraro going down... everything he had when I left. Neil Chheda commented to me, "The tournament was very smoothly run. Rounds were never on time. The tab room was a wet bar. The poker games dominated the tournament. Petraro lost tons of money. Max's dog almost fell off the pool table. But... We had a hell of a lot of fun... and had some great debate rounds. Congrats to max and Jon for running an awesome show/tournament." Max commented simply "It was fun" |

Congratulations to the South Forensics team for its impressive showing at the New York State Forensics Championships. All novices broke: Xiao, Doug, Conor, and Jennifer. The only JVer Yellin broke to Quarterfinals. All Varsity broke: Neha and Rushna with Neil breaking to Octos. In Extemp Max broke and Nisha made it to the Final round placing Sixth. In Congress I recieved an honorable mention and Ben Edaloti broke to the Semi-finals. And to appease the wrath of Jon Cruz I am giving him a special mention for running a good vassar tournament |

Congratulations to everyone else on the South Forensics Squad who attended the Vassar Invitational. Honors go to Neha Gupta for coming second overall in Varsity LD, Neil Chedha for breaking to Octos, Nisha, Karthik and Conor for breaking to (double?) Octos. In Extemp: Karthik, Nisha, and Neil for breaking. In Congress, in First Place, earning his 3rd congress qual, Feierstein; in second me, and in 7th and 8th respectively Elena and Dina. In OO congrats to Simon for (5th?) place. Also congrats to Max for 4th in DDR and to Xiao for placing (?) in Impromptu (How do you make snails go faster?). |
