Alaskan Adventure
(Day 7, Fourth of July Creek)

After our tour on the ship, we decided that we should find a place to camp for the night.  The locals said that everything was booked for miles, being that it was a holiday weekend.  I bought a book at a convenience store called "Highway Anger" and quickly browsed through it to find the local fishing holes that were accessable by road.  This is how I found Fourth of July Creek.  We arrived at about 6 p.m. and saw that there were a few people fishing from shore.  Upon closer examination, we saw that several chum salmon were being caught here.  And, there was ample space for parking the RV and camping for the night.  As you can see, we were successful fishing here.

Greg caught a 9 lb. Chum Salmon from the shore, and I caught 3 large flounder.  We ate one of the flounder for dinner.  Here is a close-up of the Chum Salmon that Greg caught.

It was on this day that I had to buy an ice chest because the refrigerator in the RV didn't work.  We kept Greg's salmon on ice until the next day when we took it to a fish processor in Soldotna.
