| EXPLORING BIKE 2008 |
| This is an hibrid bike wheter for leisure or for serious and adventured rides on asphalt road,country road, but also on many difficult single tracks. The wheels have a large diameter of 700c(28"); the tires are for cyclocross uses (but each ones can choice the type of its to determine the rolling resistance of the bike).The handlebar is a road type modificated, that is more large (47,5cm c.c.) for more control and it has a reduced drop. For this modification it has been used the technique of a structural glue between the original road handlebar on carbon fibre + aluminium and some special tubes. |
| Questa � una bici ibrida sia per tranquille passeggiate che per avventurose ed impegnative pedalate su asfalto,strade sterrate ed impegnativi sentieri. Le ruote sono da 700(28"),ovvero i copertoni sono da ciclocross ed il tipo di pneumatico pi� o meno tassellato determina anche la scorrevolezza della bici. Il manubrio � del tipo da corsa modificato in larghezza(47.5cm centro centro)per avere pi� controllo ed ha un drop ridotto.Per questa modifica � stata usata la tecnica dell'incollaggio tra il profilato del manubrio originale in carbonio/alluminio e un tubo speciale sovrapposto a questo. |

| The gears are similar at a MTB bicycle. The front fork is a type suspended by compressed air. This type of fork is in the market normally with the name of "trekking fork". This one has 80mm of travel and the lock-out (MARZOCCHI TXC ECC). Also the rear wheel is suspended, it is a mono-pivot system build with some parts of the italian firm MDEbikes.com that I know because I have build,some years ago,the firsts prototypes of their mtb. The shock of this rear system it's build on disc-springs(their are closed in the small cylinder of 35mm O.D. visible on the next photos). This application of the disc-springs on the bicycle is unique in the world. |
| I rapporti di trasmissione sono simili alle mtb. La forcella � ammortizzata ad aria. Questo tipo di forcella � chiamata normalmente "forcella da trekking". Questa ha 80mm di corsa ed il blocco(marca marzocchi). Anche la ruota posteriore � ammortizzata,ha un sistema monopivot costruito con delle parti di MDEbikes.com, un marchio italiano di mtb che conosco perch� ho collaborato alla costruzione dei primi prototipi. L'ammortizzatore di questo sistema � fatto con le molle a tazza(sono racchiuse in un cilindro di diametro esterno di 35mm visibile nelle prossime foto). Questa applicazione delle molle a tazza in ambito ciclistico � unica al mondo. |

| The superimposition of different types of disc-springs determine the force of reaction and the travel of the rear wheel. In this case the rear travel is also 80mm, this value is obtained using disc-spring type with external diameter of 28mm but with different thickness (1-1,25-1,5mm). There is also, over the cilynder of disc-springs a mechanical type of lock-out that sto� the rotation of the rear triangle. It's visible on the photo. This lock-out can be activated with an appropriated lever (it is an old gears lever fixed on the down- tube) when it rides asphalt roads if you want get more power of rear wheel. |
| La sovrapposizione di differenti tipi di molle a tazza determina la forza di reazione e la corsa totale della ruota posteriore. In questo caso la corsa posteriore � di 80mm, valore ottenuto sovrapponendo pi� coppie di molle a tazza da 28mm di diametro esterno ma di differente spessore(1-1,25-1,5mm). C'� anche, sopra il cilindro contenente le molle a tazza , un bloccaggio meccanico della corsa del carro posteriore. E' visibile in una foto. Questo bloccaggio � attivabile con una leva appropriata(leva tipo cambio sull'obliquo) ed � utile quando si percorrono lunghi tratti asfaltati per ottenere pi� potenza alla ruota posteriore. |

| The gear shifters are a classic shimano road 105 STI for triple front chain wheel. i have put a small synthetic rope between the end of the brake levers and the screws of the stem handlebar (see the photo), in this mode the rider can use the brakes very well to achieve the small stretched rope with his fingers when the hands are on the top of the handlebar tube. So the rider can made some off-road difficult down-hill on this position of the hands(see the photo). This gives more security in the guide of the bike. This system it's very simple and cheap to apply of every road handlebar bike and provides more security and more fast use of the brake levers. |

| With this type of bike is ideal the use of a GPS navigation unit( on the stem of handlebar I have put the attack for this unit) because the trips on open air are more speedy and most various respect at a classic mountain bike. This bike is ideal for those bikers that want to go off road but admired always the road bike style, or for thoses ones that wants running more easy various type of terrain in the same jourrney. |
