THE OPERA OF ASKAMASKA

ARGUMENT

At the begining, a minstrel sings three songs that explain the situation: first describes Maska, a beautiful land, whose people has been struck by a "sadness disease". Some old men think that this strange disease is linked to the pollution that shows the "River of Perpetual Time", this river is the only way out of Maska because the rest of the village is surrounded by the "Forest of Eternal Night". Then he describes Aska, a dirty , industrial place, polluted and controlled by Porkus, who killed the king of Aska and took the power in a violent way. Here, among the rebels, appears our hero , Asko.

The "River of Perpetual Time" can only be sailed by a special race, that has the knowledge for sailing on the river, these people make a living doing commerce between Aska and Maska , The Gubluts, that's how they are called, dress like desert people and speak with arabian accent. One day Asko decides to sneak into a Gubluts Ship, to see if he can get outside of Aska and find support to defeat Porkus. Asko makes this journey, and when the ship stops he silently sneaks out to this new land, he was in Maska. Asko sees amazed the beauty of this place, and starts to walk across the gardens full of flowers, sudendly he found two strangers, that notice a very deep body odor in Asko, and advice him to take a bath before going any further into Maska; Asko had never take a bath in his whole life, but follows the advice making complains.

After the bath, Asko ask for a hearing to Maskamucho, king of Maska, who listen to his story with deep interest because he finds some similarity between Aska's problems and his people's disease. He asks for magitian/sorcerer Yzbepolla to see if he can help Asko in his quest.

Yzbepolla gives some very confusing advice to our hero (like every good genius always does), and tells Asko, that he will have to enter the "Forest of Eternal Night"and find the Hexagonal Rock. Without further clues Asko takes a rest in the night before starting his dangerous journey the next day, but, awaken, he decides to stroll across the gardens and watch in a balcony Princess Maskina, Asko stares at Maskina and, inmediatly, both of them falls in love (what were you expecting anyway?), fortunately Maskina only saw him from a good distance (because Asko still had a little smell...)

The following day Asko starts his quest trought the Forest of Eternal Night, torch in hand, without not much of and idea of what he needed to find. In his way he gets to some muddy waters and sees a strange being (a faun) caught in the mud. Asko helps the faun to get out of the mud and in return Finolfing (that was the faun's name) becomes the right hand of our hero...

After a long journey, Asko and Finolfing arrive to a hostery. They decide to enter and when they do, they see Pirulo the dwarf, the owner of the place, showing his awesome habilities and the amazing flexibility of his lower extremities (he handles his feet with the same ease as his hands). After watching this unusual demostration, Asko and Finolfing make some questions to Pirulo, who give them some clues to acomplish their mission: the Hexagonal Rock ist located at the Efimerous Mountain, wich is always moving and appearing at a different place, besides, the rock is protected by Hyzar the Snake, who only would give the rock in exchange of eating the genitalia of whoever wants to get the rock. The only way to kill Hyzar is using the Meylin Sword, that is guarded by a strange being known as the Ornirront.

After a well deserved rest, our heros continue they journey, now in search of the Ornirront, to try obtain the Meylin Sword and defeat Hyzar without losing any body parts. After some searching they get to meet the Ornirront, who refuses to give them the sword. The Ornirront was terribly depressed, because he was in love of a female Ornirronta and didn't know how to get to her. After a hard (and funny) effort, Asko and Finolfing manage to unite the couple, and obtain the Meylin Sword in return.

Armed with the Sword Asko and Finolfing start they way towards Hergod Dolmens, where they find the clue to get to the Efimerous Mountain. On their way they come across a band of Excrementus, sent by Porkus to stop our heros. Asko and Finolfing defeat the Excrementus, that run away humiliated.

Finally our heros arrive to the Efimerous Mountain, and face Hyzar, Asko pulls out the Sword, but Hyzar makes a strange movement of his tail and the Sword gets out of Asko's hands. Asko then realizes that his only choice now, to save his people, his giving his manhood to Hyzar in exchange for the Hexagonal Rock, suddently Finolfing appears, with the Sword in his hand (he recovered it while Asko was facing Hyzar) and jumps towards the Serpent causing it a fatal wound, however in a last spasm Hyzar throw Finolfing over a ridge, killing the faun. (This is tragic part of the opera, tears and everything...)

Finally Asko returns to Aska riding a Pegasus , and faces Porkus in a mortal battle, defeating him. The story ends when Asko puts the Hexagonal Rock at the top of the Golden Tower, and, magically, the Forest of The Eternal Night disapears, and the villages of Aska and Maska joins as one: ASKAMASKA.
