PLEASE NOTE
***I encourage students to read 20 minutes each night. On some nights
the
pages will be assigned and on others it will be free reading
time.
This is the most important homework the students have! To become
a better reader you must practice every day.
Please do not be alarmed if I do not send homework. Many of our
activities in 2nd grade are center, and hands on based. I feel as
if homework often becomes busy work and is not time well spent. I
would much rather have the children reading something they enjoy as
their homework, than having them complete worksheets that they are not
engaged with. If you would like to read more about my ideas of
homework a great book for adults to read is The Homework Myth by Alfie
Kohn.

summer. We are writing stories about these pictures to display
outside of our classroom.
