Very Esteemed Herr Professor!

In the investigation for you personally, I can now send to you the death certificate of

your Great-grandfathers shortly after the introduction of the France administration the

Registrar had not yet preprinted forms, that the reason that neither birth place nor parents

are given, also about his wife, nothing was said. And then, I am not clear about, the year

of the death, was it 1800 or 1802 usually is the 3. Messidor of the year VIII the 22 of

 June 1800.

For the inquiry and the search for the baptism, the year of the death is naturally

important, because an inaccuracy sticks in the age giving. Now, I am going to ask the

minister what the Itinerary is. So, in the way of writing is real slow, but the main point

remains finally, that the desired result can be found. It is real good, that at the same time

the church books and the registrar of marriage, so one supplements the others.

In the next few days I will have more opportunities in the investigation Amweg the

research for the peculiar Dutch location to continue.

                                                                       Respectfully

                                                                               Macco

Leaf from the death registrar Winningen an der Mosel

Today, the 4th Messidor, eighth year of the French Republic about the 23rd of June

1800, 7 o’clock in the morning is in front of me the Johann Frölich, municipal-agent for

the community of Winnigen chose about the document, whereby the births, marriages

and death cases to attest, appeared Matheus Horich, 56 years old, citizen and vinedresser

locally and Anton Frölich, 64 years old citizen and vinedresser locally with the

announcement that yesterday evening at 9:30, the local citizen and manufacture of linen,

a weaver, died at the age of 49 years and 5 months

Inconsequence of the explanation, I went right away to the death house and made sure

the announcement of the death of Jahann Georg Henke and the equivalent file written,

which the witnesses, Matheus Horich and Anton Frölich undersigned with me.

Winningen: After I reported on a special piece of paper about the investigation

about Amweg, I can personally send you some information. First, I can send you the the

birth certificate of your Grandfather Georg Wilhelm Hinke. Here you can notice that the

clerk wrote “Henke”, but your Great Grand Father signed “Hinke”. The last one is the

correct name. That indicates that he heard it wrong or misunderstood it. The witness,

Christian Gail, was obviously a brother-in law 2nd grade, compare my combination that I

have sent to you the date you gave, Sept 15th 1815 was probably the baptism day

.

Thereupon I can further ascertain that your family moved from the area of Stuttgart

to Winningen, but this matter is still not finished, but I am very much content that I to

some extent already knows the area. This always simplifies it.

A small delay has happened by a misunderstanding. Johann Georg Hinke had died on

June 22, 1800, this is no where documented. Verification stands, that it’s the 3rd

Messidor of the year 10 of the French Republic and that is on June 22, 1802, as my

verification has proven. I put a lot of value on the death certificate, it was in the French

time very particular and gave the parents of the deceased, his age and origin.

The marriage certificate of Georg Peter Hinke with Dorothea Catharina Remmy, I

would like to have had that too, but when I ask to many questions, then the court clerk

gets a little confused. One has to have a lot of patience and only ask a few questions. I

copied the birth certificate and I am sending it to you. The name Remmy indicates

Remigius-Remmich-Römmich, that’s the same clan Remigius.

It is to be hoped that I helped you with my information, my attention prove and soon

 inform you further.

                                                    The Marriage Officer

Mr.                                                                                                     April 10, 1932

             Professor William J. Hinke,

                                                                                                            Auburn        N.Y. St

.

        Very honorable Mr. Professor

For your friendly letter from March 24th I thank you so much. In the meantime would be nice for you from Zürich from the orderly reception notice come to be. You do not have to put yourself in a special effort and especially make correspondence, I have only one question is it without special effort possible for you to rewrite the check and that is rewrite to the Züricher man? When it goes smooth, I will bring about the effort to send it back. If it does not go, then I please you positively, for that reason do not put any effort and cost, I will then regulate everything from here.

In the investigation Amweg, I must excuse myself  for the moment, indeed I have here already many notes, I am because of heavy business and great work, which is now concluded, did not get to the curriculum. To avoid an misunderstanding, I will do with reference the unclear Dutch village, Westervain etc. the observation , I would not like to make a bad impression to Mr. Omwake, as I have my own consequences thought and is for everyone unapproachable. The Brumbaugh [file] I have here laying by me, but I have not got it completed yet. Above all with the next mail

.

Thereupon a few words to the investigation for you personally. I thank you primarily for being so friendly, so willing, my work and the unavoidable expense to pay for. In a moment lays my mainly thereby, you with a nice and complete investigation to be pleased. I admire the becoming accurate statement that your Mr. father from his memory made, an importance is within the knowledge of the connection at Winningen and again backwards at Württenberg and the Stuttgarter area. You are asking of the marriage of Georg Peter Henke with Dorothea Catharina Remmy: for that very reason I have asked you a long time ago, but unfortunately as of now not received an answer, the marriage I guess is approximately about 1812-1815. Here must the schedule of the French time be applied, also that both sides parents reported very exact, sometimes even the grandparents. I risk to ask questions, then the Marriage Officer becomes confused. A person like him in the best case can find and copy write more, but find out the connections etc also to bring the investigation to a close in which everyone is significant, not possible. Never the less, while the Württenberger descent becomes established and then in Württenberg the remote work lays, it is my sympathies, the whole investigation at the town and place myself to carry through, then I will have the knowledge that everything is correct and nothing has been neglected. I like to be sure the case is prepared and is clear, so it is better, therefore I will be in Württenberg myself there is no holdup
