The Patriots on the cusp of their first Superbowl, entered the den of their own personal hell , the Orange Bowl in Miami.  The Patriots had lost 18 consecutive games in Miami, including a 30-27 late season game that cost the Patriots the division crown.  The wildcard Patriots started their third straight road playoff game well, when DE Garvin Veris recovered a Tony Nathan fumble.  Tony Franklin would connect from 23 yards out and the Patriots had an early 3-0 lead.  Dan Marino would put the Dolphins ahead 7-3 early in the second when he hit Dan Johnson on a 10 yard pass.  Tony Eason and the Patriots responded on the ensuing drive and capped a 66 yard drive with a Tony Eason to Tony Collins 4 yard pass.  Marino fumbled on the next Dolphin possession and the Patriots were quick to capitalize as Derrick Ramsey caught a one yard Eason pass for a 17-7 halftime lead.  After another Dolphin turnover on their opening drive in the second half, Robert Weathers caught Tony Eason's third TD pass for a 24-7 Patriot lead.  The Dolphins would close to 24-14 early inthe fourth behind another Dan Marino pass, but the Patriots running game would continue to pound away at the Dolphin D and Mosi Tatupu would score on a yard plunge late.  The Patriots on the day ripped apart the Dolphin D for 255 yards on 59 carries.  The Patriots' defense did their part as they continued their trend in the first two playoff games by forcing 6 turnovers and holding Dan Marino to a 42% completion rate.  With this all around performance the 1985 Patriots became the first Patriot team to qualify for the Superbowl.
