Secular historians tell us that the first people were Nomads and that people gradually learned to settle the land and stay in one place. The Bible tells us that the first people, Adam, Eve, Cain and Able, raised crops and herded animals (Gen. 4:2). Which account is true? Many Christians believe the Bible. So how do we account for evidence of nomadic lifestyles? We find that even today there are nomads. The Bible tells us that God scattered the people at the tower of Babel because man decided to "make a name for himself" (Gen. 11:1-9) As a result there are different languages and they were scattered abroad over the face of the earth. Apparently, the nomadic lifestyle appealed to some groups of people. This is still true today. The Bedouins of the Negev Dessert still live in tents and migrate from place to place. |
