Iain M. Banks

Iain M. Banks is a science fiction writer, who also writes mainstream fiction as Iain Banks. His science fiction depicts espionage and conflict in the far future. Mixing science with space opera, his ideas are startlingly original, and his characters are interesting and intelligent.

His writing voice is simply the best I've read in science fiction.
