Project SPAWN

This project came in early 1992 after the Ormoc flood in November 1991. The idea was to provide livelihood assistance to our organized women groups in Ormoc as well as in Isabel, Leyte, a town 45 kilometers north of the city.

The livelihood projects were varied: from stuff toys production to hog and goat raising, to buy-and-sell business and native delicacies making and sewing. The said schemes were offshoots of small group discussions and consultations which were held after the assistance was offered by Canada Fund. This was later augmented by funds provided by the Netherlands Embassy for more women groups.
