Because they have declared war on any and all person with differing ideas of morality.
The Christian Colaition has risen beyond the control of the conservative Republicans and for years has deliberately sought to seize the reigns of a government that ideally should represent us all.
"Civil rights legislation is Big Government. Discrimination against the minority populations, the homosexual, and the poor does not exist in this nation - This is God's country."
The Christian Right wear their blinders when they stroll through the streets and the office corridors of the United States. Under the guise of compaigning for "smaller government," they envision a world unfettered by opposing beliefs and values. The politics of the Christian Right (separation of church and state?) assume a humanistic perspective where we are all "equal" - unless of course, you're African-American, poor, or love someone of the same sex (or if you happen to live in the real world like the rest of us). Institutional prejudice is non-existant in theirs.
The Christian Right is dead wrong when children are starving, women are dying in back alleys, and people's sexuality is devalued and denied.
Sorry. We are not all upper-middle class, white men of the christian persausion. Sorry. Because when the rest of us don't make it, we're just plain lazy. Sorry.
