I found Clancy's designs interesting, had read some interesting reviews about the flying characteristics, so I decided to try a quick build plane with a slightly enlarged 'Yard Bee' type wing.

Assembly:

My first attempt at an electric plane. The wing is made with 3/16" balsa entirely. The fuse is a 1/4" fiberglass tube. Can't seem to find carbon locally, but got to try the archery supply stores. Tail faithers are made of 1/8" sheet balsa. Servos are hooked up with fishing line for a pull-pull arrangement on the control surfaces.

Flying:

Was underpowered/overweight for a geared 280, so will be trying again with a geared speed 400 and various props and power packs. Suprisingly seems to be able to take a lot of abuse in crash testing.

I may need to make up a new fuse for this one, with a full flying rudder (like the yard bee). It's very difficult to control at this time, and the best I can do is stall turns with rudder and elevator to get it to turn at all.
