In the early nineties I used to hang out at a comic book store where playing Super Pac Man and Miss Pac Man were popular pastimes so there was lots of talk about Pac-Man in this time in my life but then I heard about a group of musicians who would change my life forever.I remember the owner of the said comic book store saying,"Remember the song Pac-Man Fever by Buckman & Garcia? Man,that was terrible!"
A couple of years later I am in a Goodwill store and what do they have in one of their bins?A cassette of "Pac-Man Fever" by BuckNER and Garcia, not BuckMAN,but thats not really relevant. What IS relevant is the music of these guys.Every song on Pac-Man Fever had something in common.Check out this tracklisting and see if you can figure out what is was the tunes had in common.

Pac-Man Fever
Froggy's Lament
Ode To A Centipede
Do The Donkey Kong
Hyperspace
The Defender
Mousetrap
Goin' Berzerk
Now if you were aware of what was popular in the eigties you know all of these songs were about what are now vintage video games.I found this music to not be necessarily all that good but I did find it very amusing! So I tried to find things about these guys on the internet in the mid nineties but I could not really find anything about them so I created my own website for them!
On my webpage I crusaded for a re-release of the Pac-Man Fever album and soon I was contacted by Buckner & Garcia themselves telling me they had plans to re-release the CD!I did not hear from them for a long time after that, but back then mine was virtually the only website about Buckner & Garcia,so I feel somewhat responsible for the renewed interest in them.
After that I came into contact with a man named Chris Haynes and I got to review video games for happypuppy.com.It did not last long but for about a month a had a dream job.Months later I was e-mailed by VH1,the music channel, asking me if I knew how to get in touch with Buckner & Garcia, but I told them I did not know how since I has not heard from them in months and had assumed their plans for the re-release of Pac-Man Fever had fallen through since the original record company did not want to re-release the master tapes of the music. My enthusiasm for B&G died down and I took down the website, which I reget to this day.
And then when all hope was lost IT happenned, what was it you ask? it was this! Now they have their own website but it is more than just a website of nostalgia, you can order their new Pac-Man Fever CD from said site! Now this is NOT the original recordings but rather re-recordings of the same music. It was the best they could do since they could not get their original recordings from the original record company, but nonetheless Buckner & Garcia delivered and all was right with the world again!
Back when I first discovered these guys there was virtually nothing about them on the net but NOW you can find plenty of downloads and interviews. It you are curious about B&G just do a search on Yahoo! and check out the links below.Right now I'm going to leave here singing the chorus to "Ode To A Centipede." Ohhhh Centipede, you can't run away, you can't run away....
