There comes a time in everyones life when they are thinking,pondering deep thoughts.They ask themselves questions about the cosmos,about life after death,about what happenned to Jimmy Hoffa.You know,questions that will probably be unanswered in our lifetimes,which of course,leads us to the question that should be answered but never really is:Whatever happenned to Mayor McCheese?
Some of you probably don't remember Mayor McCheese,and for those of you that don't, I feel sorrow.You missed out.Back in the day the company McDonalds had an almost totally different cast of mascots.Oh sure,Ronald was there,the Hamburglar was there but there was also Big Mac,Captain Crook and of course,Mayor McCheese. I have heard many different theorys on Mayor McCheese's mysterious dissapearance.They say he was no longer used becuase McDonalds went international and as a "Mayor" he represented democracy.I have also heard becuase his giant cheeseburger head gave children nightmares.Worst of all,however,is what McDonalds state is the reason for his dissapearance.He stepped aside so they could introduce new characters like Birdie and the Happy Meal Guys.I mean,come on!Birdie?!?!The LAMEST fast food character ever.Hands down.
Fortunately Mayor McCheese was marketable back in the days when he was visible(which was the late 70's and early eigties by the way).They made a doll of him! Look!
They made many other cool toys for the Mayor that you can see on Ebay sometimes,but the Mayor McCheese doll is so grand its usually the only one I want but every time I have tried to purchase the Mayor McCheese doll off Ebay I have been outbid,which,to me,is heartwarming. Mayor McCheese,you are more than a forgotten fast food character.You are a legend!The thing about legends are they may be forgotten but they are always great and you were a role model for us all.We love you Mayor McCheese!
