Dawson Leery stood on the street corner. He glanced at his watch. It was five minutes past three, and they were late. They always seemed to be late these days if he saw them at all. For the past three weeks whenever he called Pacey, or Joey they were either gone, or had other plans. He never knew Pacey studied so much, but he had been studying every night this week including last night, which had been Friday night.

Dawson squinted up into the sun as he waited. He had been able to convince both Pacey and Joey to meet him today to film their history class project, but they were late. Dawson glanced at his watch again, and sighed. Something was going on, and he felt like he was the only one who wasnt in on it.
A smile crept onto Dawsons face as Pacey came towards him from the other side of the street. Pacey stopped at the opposite corner, and looked both ways before crossing the street.
Hey Dawson, he called out as he made his way to the other side of the street.
Youre late, Dawson replied.
Pacey ran his hand through his rumpled hair. Sorry man.
Its not a big deal, Dawson answered with a shrug. Now we just have to wait for Joey. Where the heck is she?
Shell be here in a minute.
Did you talk to her today? Dawson asked.
Pacey averted his eyes. I uhh no Im just sure she will ummm turn up, he paused before adding, soon.
As if on cue Joey walked up from behind them. Hey guys, she called out.
Pacey and Dawson turned around. Paceys face lit up with a smile. I was afraid you bailed on me, Dawson said.
Relax Dawson Im here I just, she paused, lost track of the time. Joey smiled shyly at Pacey.
Okay well were all here so I guess we should get started, Dawson said as he moved to pick up his camera.
Dawson kneeled on the ground, and started messing with the camera. Pacey took a step closer to Joey. Their eyes locked, and they shared a smile.
Damn, Dawson shouted.
Pacey and Joey jumped at his voice, and looked away from each other guiltily. Dawson looked up, and sighed.
I forgot to put film in the camera, Dawson proclaimed.
Smooth move Leery, Pacey replied.
Dawson glared at Pacey.
Its all right. We can do it another time, Joey offered.
Dawson stood up. No way. It took enough trouble just to get you guys to come today. We will do this today. I just have to run home, and get the film. Itll take me fifteen minutes, Dawson said.
Hey D maybe we should just do this another time, Pacey suggested as he stole a glance at Joey.
No. Fifteen minutes just wait here okay?
Fine Dawson well wait, Joey agreed.
Fifteen minutes, Dawson said before taking off towards his house.
Dawson disappeared, and Joey leaned back against the building on the corner. Great what the hell are we going to do for fifteen minutes, she complained.
A slow wicked grin spread onto Paceys face. He moved towards Joey, and grabbed her around the waist. Theres a lot we can do in fifteen minutes, he said seductively.
Joey giggled, but pushed him away as he moved in to kiss her. Were in public. Anyone can see us, she explained.
Pacey sighed, Youre right.
He slumped against the wall and slid down to sit on the sidewalk. Joey followed him, and they sat on the sidewalk not talking waiting for Dawson to come back.
Half an Hour Later
Fifteen minutes my ass, Pacey grumbled.
Im so bored. There are better things I could be doing on my Saturday than sitting on the damn sidewalk, Joey complained.
They sit in silence for a while. Im tired, Joey said out of nowhere.
She laid her head on Paceys shoulder. Pacey turned his head to look down at her, and he smiled. He moved his arm around her shoulder, and started to play with her long hair.
We should have just not shown up. I mean we were having fun before, Pacey paused, We were having fun right?
Joey looked up, and smiled at Pacey. Yeah we definitely were having fun.
Pacey grinned. He moved forward to kiss her, and surprisingly Joey met him half way. Their lips met, and Pacey entwined his fingers into her hair. Joey reached up to put her arms around Paceys neck as their kiss started to intensify.
Unknown to them Dawson walked around the corner, and stopped dead in his tracks. OH MY GOD, Dawson shouted.
Pacey and Joey jumped apart startled by Dawsons outburst. They scrambled to their feet.
I cant believe this, Dawson declared.
Joey ran towards Dawson, but Dawson backed away from her. Dawson I can explain, she begged.
Dont, just dont, he said as he kept backing away from her.
Joey reached out, and placed her hand on Dawsons arm. He recoiled from her touch as if she had bitten him.
Dont, just dont, Dawson whispered as he continued to back away from them.
Dawson, I can explain, Pacey started.
No you cant. I cant believe this, Dawson shouted.
Dawson turned around, and ran away from them. He didnt stop as he neared the street, and took off across the street without looking.
It all happened so fast the horn blaring, the tires screeching, the crunch of metal breaking bone, and the scream coming from Joey as she watched in horror as the SUV ran Dawson down in the middle of the street.
The Moral of the Story- Dont keep people waiting. Its rude.
