Int. True Love (Night of Day 1)

It picks up the same night that Happy Birthday Pacey Witter ended with Joey and Pacey on True Love. They are dancing despite the fact that the only sounds are their breathing and the rhythmic sound of the water lapping against True Loves hull. Joeys hands are resting on Paceys shoulders, while he has his arms wrapped around her waist holding her tightly against him.

Pacey: Are you still cold?

Joey: (shaking her head no) This is nice.

They continue to dance silently. Joey moves her hands behind Paceys neck, and she rests her head on his shoulder. Paceys hands travel up her back, and he tangles his hands in her hair.

Pacey: (whispering in her ear) This is one hell of a seduction Potter.

Joey: (lifting her head to look into Paceys eyes) I was hoping youd like it.

Pacey: Oh I do. This is just what I needed. Something so uncomplicated, so simple, (pausing) so perfect.

Joey: Me too. (she lays her head back on his shoulder) I wish every moment could be like this.

Pacey: Ill work on it.

Joey laughs softly. Pacey runs his hands lightly over her arms. He entwines his fingers with hers, and lowers their hands to their sides. Joey looks up, and Pacey slowly lowers his mouth to hers.

Fade out...

Act 1

Int. Jens House (Morning of Day 2)

Grams has just walked in the back door and into the kitchen. She is carrying her bible and a package. She sets them down on the kitchen table, and takes off her coat. She lays her coat on the back of one of the chairs at the table. She walks to the counter, and starts making a pot of coffee. Jen walks into the kitchen clearly having just woken up.

Jen: Morning.

Grams: (turning around) Morning Jennifer. I just started a pot of coffee.

Jen: (yawning) Thanks.

Jen sits at the table.

Grams: Theres a package for you.

Jen: (looking up) Its Sunday right?

Grams: It is.

Jen: (reaching for the package) We dont get mail on Sunday.

Grams: It was left on the back porch. (Jen starts opening it; Grams smiles) I think you have an admirer.

Jen finishes unwrapping the package revealing a CD. She stares at the CD with a look of both intrigue and confusion.

Jen: Its a Donnas CD.

Grams: You dont like them?

Jen: No I do. A lot. But this is the one CD of theirs I dont have.

Grams: Well that was nice.

Jen: (far off) Yeah.

Ext. Dawsons House (Morning of Day 2)

Pacey stands at the front door. He wipes his hands on his pants before raising his hand and knocking. He waits shifting nervously. The door opens revealing Gale.

Gale: (big smile) Pacey.

Pacey: Hey Mrs. Leery.

Gale: (pulling him into a hug) Its so good to see you.

Pacey: (returning her hug) You too. Hows the baby?

Gale: (letting him go, and backing away) Good, though I dont remember being this tired, or sore with Dawson.

Pacey laughs and pauses.

Pacey: Is Dawson home?

Gale: Hes upstairs helping Mitch with the nursery. Go on up.

Pacey: Thanks.

Pacey walks towards the stairs slowly while Gale watches him with a smile.

Int. Nursery (Morning of Day 2)

The nursery is painted a pale yellow and empty except for the half made crib that Dawson and Mitch are assembling. Dawson is holding two of the sides together as Mitch is screwing them together.

Mitch: Hold it still Dawson.

Dawson: I am. Dont they have pre-made cribs?

Mitch: Part of the joy of being an expectant parent is furnishing the nursery.

Dawson: How does that explain me being here?

Mitch: Youre the expectant brother.

Dawson smiles at his words. A knock is heard from the hallway, and both Mitch and Dawson look towards the open door to see Pacey standing there nervously.

Mitch: Hey Pacey.

Pacey: Hey Mitch. (pausing) Hey Dawson.

Dawson: Pacey.

Mitch walks over to Pacey and hands him the screwdriver.

Mitch: Pacey why dont you finish up for me. I should go see if Gale needs anything.

Before Pacey or Dawson can say anything Mitch is gone. Pacey walks over to the crib.

Dawson: So whats up?

Pacey starts to screw in the screw not looking at Dawson.

Pacey: I wanted to say thank you.

Dawson: (confused) For what?

Pacey: For coming to my birthday party. I know I didnt go to my own birthday party, but Joey said you were there, so thank you. (looking at Dawson) It means a lot to me.

Dawson: No problem.

They finish connecting that side in silence. Dawson picks up the next side, and Pacey watches him clearly wanting to say more. Dawson aligns the sides, and Pacey picks up some screws, and starts screwing the sides together. Dawson sighs.

Dawson: Are you okay Pacey?

Pacey is startled by his question and stops his work.

Pacey: Yeah. (they start working again in silence) Im living on True Love now.

Dawson: (concerned) Youre not staying with Doug anymore?

Pacey: Nah. Hes got a life now, and surprisingly its a straight life. (Dawson chuckles) He didnt throw me out. Mark this day on your calendar Dawson; Pacey Witter is taking responsibility for his life.

Dawson: It was bond to happen eventually. Even the most dedicated to their inner child have to grow up eventually.

Pacey: Yeah, so whens your turn? (Dawson half laughs, and half groans) Sorry that was...(his voice trails off)

Dawson: (with a smile) Pure Pacey.

Pacey returns his smile.

Int. McPhees House (Day 2)

Jack is in his room working on his computer. Hes typing a paper while listening to Dave Matthews Band nodding his head in time with the music. Theres a knock on the door.

Jack: (not looking up) Come in.

The door opens, and Andie walks in.

Andie: Hey whatcha doing?

Jack: (minimizing the window on his screen, and turning to Andie) Just working on my European History paper.

Andie: Whats it about?

Jack: The French Revolution.

Andie: Interesting.

Jack: Not really (noticing that she is carrying her purse, and is dressed to go out) Where are you going?

Andie: Out. Thats what I came in here to tell you. Ill be back later.

Jack: (turning back to this computer) Tell Daniel I said hi.

Andie sticks her tongue out at Jack. She turns around to leave, but stops as Mr. McPhee comes into the room.

Andie: Hey Dad.

Mr. McPhee: Hi sweetheart, (noticing that shes carrying a purse) are you going out?

Andie: Just for a little bit. Ill be back for dinner.

Mr. McPhee: One of these days I want to meet this boy.

Andie: (nervously) Of course you do.

Mr. McPhee: (resting his hand on her shoulder) I wont torment him (pausing) much. (Jack snickers) But I do want to meet him Andie.

Andie: Okay. (shifting nervously) Did you want me to invite him to dinner tonight?

Mr. McPhee: Actually I wanted to talk to you two about that. I wont be able to make dinner tonight. I have to leave for Providence today. (Andie looks slightly relieved) So youre off the hook for now Andie, but when I get back...

Andie: (finishing his sentence) You want to meet Daniel.

Mr. McPhee: Right. Behave when Im gone.

Andie: (chirping) We will. (Mr. McPhee kisses her cheek, and leaves the room. Andie pauses and turns back to Jack) Is it me or has he been going to Providence a lot lately?

Jack: (turning around to look at her) I didnt really think about it, but now that you mention it he has.

Andie: Its just weird. He makes such a big deal out of us all being together for Sunday night dinners.

Jack: Im sure he doesnt want to miss it Andie. Business is probably just keeping him busy.

Andie: (worried) Do you think hes in trouble?

Jack: At work?

Andie: Yeah, maybe thats why hes been working so much lately.

Jack: I wouldnt stress about it Andie.

Andie: Stress is what I do.

Jack: (smiling) Sometimes I wonder if were really related.

Andie: (smiling back at him) Sometimes I do too.

Int. Dougs Apartment (Morning of Day 3)

Doug and Sarah are sitting at the kitchen table eating breakfast. The newspaper is resting on the table.

Doug: Im not saying that Sarah. I completely agree that you live here, and you should feel at home, but cant you feel at home (he points to the living room) without that terribly ugly painting on the wall?

Sarah: That painting is not terribly ugly. (looking towards the bathroom) What is terribly ugly is the color of the walls in the bathroom. (looking back at Doug) What is that? Pink?

Doug: (annoyed) Its mauve.

Sarah: (rolling her eyes) Oh mauve, that doesnt make it better.

Pacey: Be nice I painted that bathroom.

Doug and Sarah look to the kitchen doorway to see Pacey standing there with wet hair.

Sarah: The quality of the painting is great. Its the color I protest.

Pacey: (sitting down at the table) Im not going to argue with that one. (he reaches across the table and grabs a piece of toast off Dougs plate)

Doug: I thought you didnt live here anymore.

Sarah: (gives Doug a hush up look before pouring Pacey a cup of coffee) Dont listen to him Pacey. Dougs just testy because Im questioning his decorating skills.

Pacey: (with a mouthful of toast) Anything you do to this place will be a vast improvement.

Doug: It suited you fine for a year.

Pacey: Two guys sharing a pink bathroom is wrong on so many levels.

Doug: Its not pink. Its mauve. (Pacey and Sarah burst out into laughter) Okay you two have your fun at my expense. It doesnt bother me.

Pacey: Is that why that vein in your neck is throbbing? Id hate to see what it does when you are bothered.

Doug shoots Pacey a look. Sarah pats Dougs hand. Pacey picks up the newspaper, and starts flipping through it.

Sarah: Ill leave the bathroom alone if I can have my painting.

Doug: Fine. (Sarah smiles and leans over and kisses Doug) Why do I feel like Ive been manipulated?

Pacey: Because you have. Welcome to the wonderful world of love Dougie. (Doug shakes his head. Pacey grabs a section of the newspaper, and stands up) I have to get to school.

Doug: Where are going with my paper?

Pacey: Youll like this one Doug. Im looking for a job.

Doug: (surprised) Youre looking for a job?

Pacey: Yeah Im looking for a job.

Doug: Whats wrong with the video store?

Pacey: I cant exactly live off my video store wages. (Doug looks away) Thanks for the toast and the shower.

Sarah: Anytime Pace. Good luck.

Pacey: Thanks.

Pacey leaves, and Doug watches with a worried look on his face.

Sarah: Hell be okay.

Doug: (looking at Sarah) I hope so.

Int. Capeside High (Morning of Day 3)

Joey is standing in front of a bulletin board in the hallway. She is reading the ads pinned to it when Dawson comes up behind her.

Dawson: Hey Jo.

Joey: (looking back at Dawson) Hey Dawson.

Dawson: (looking at the bulletin board) Are you looking for a job or something?

Joey: No, Im just looking. (pausing) Dawson, I wanted to thank you again for coming to Paceys party. It meant a lot to me, so thank you.

Dawson: You guys can stop thanking me.

Joey: (confused) You guys?

Dawson: Yeah Pacey came by yesterday and thanked me too.

Joey: (shocked) He did?

Dawson: Yeah. (pausing as he realizes this is news to Joey) I guess he didnt tell you.

Joey: No he didnt.

Dawson: Im sorry.

Joey: No, its okay. (shrugging her shoulders) Im sure he just didnt want to make a big deal out of it.

Dawson: Probably.

Joey: (smiling) So how are you Dawson? We really didnt get a chance to talk the other night.

Dawson: No we didnt.

Joey: So whats going on in the life of Dawson Leary?

Dawson: Well Im just about finished with my movie.

Joey: Thats great, and Im sure its wonderful.

Dawson: Well see. (Theres a pause; Dawson notices someone down the hall) I have to go. Well talk later okay?

Joey: Okay. It was nice talking to you Dawson.

Dawson: You too.

Dawson walks away, and Joey turns back to the bulletin board. An ad catches her eye, and she pulls it off the bulletin board.

Int. Capeside High (Morning of Day 3)

Dawson walks up to Andie who is standing at her locker pulling out books.

Dawson: Hey Andie.

Andie: Hey Dawson. Hows it going?

Dawson: Pretty good. You?

Andie: (slamming her locker shut) Great, so whats up?

Dawson: Well I wanted to ask you for a favor.

Andie: Ask away.

Dawson: Well I have a rough cut of the film.

Andie: (cutting him off excited) Ohhh do I get to see it?

Dawson: (laughing lightly) Yes you get to see it, but its still a rough cut, and theres no music.

Andie: Do you need help picking music out?

Dawson: Well I need help, and (he pauses, and then speaks rather quickly) I remember you mentioned once that Daniel writes music, and I was wondering if possibly you would ask him if he was maybe interested in recording some instrumental pieces for the film.

Andie: (excited) That is such a good idea.

Dawson: (apprehensive) You think hell do it?

Andie: I dont see why not? He loves music.

She starts walking down the hall, and Dawson falls into step beside her.

Dawson: Well he doesnt exactly like me.

Andie: Thats not true. He doesnt know you, but this is an opportunity for you to get to know him better, and for him to get to know you better.

Dawson: I dont for see bonding in our future.

Andie: It wouldnt kill you to be nice to him. He doesnt know very many people here.

Dawson: I think hes made it perfectly clear he really doesnt want to know me.

Andie: (rolling her eyes) Boys. Everything is always a pissing contest with you guys.

Dawson: There is no contest here. Just a mutual understanding that we dont get along.

Andie: Fine.

Dawson: But youll ask him about the music?

Andie: Yeah, and dont worry Dawson Im sure I can convince him to do it if I have to.

Dawson: (uneasy) Thanks.

Andie: No problem.

Int. Capeside High Computer Lab (Afternoon Day 3)

Jack is at a terminal searching the Internet. He clicks the mouse a few times clearly frustrated. Jen walks up, and sits next to him.

Jen: Hey.

Jack: (distracted) Hey.

Jen: Whatcha doing?

Jack: Looking for something.

Jen: I gathered that. (she looks at the screen) Wright, Carlson & McPhee? Thats your dads firm?

Jack: Yeah.

Jen: Why are you looking up your dads firm?

Jack: Im just curious.

Jen: About what?

Jack: You know about his work. Hes always telling me that if I ever want an internship there hell set it up, so I was just checking it out.

Jen: Youre interested in advertising now?

Jack: I didnt say that, but I mean its artistic to some extent. (shrugging) I just thought I would check it out.

Jen: Wouldnt it be easier to just ask your dad about it.

Jack: My dads a busy man.

Jen: Is he out of town again? (Jack nods; Jen pauses) Is something wrong Jack?

Jack: Nothing why?

Jen: You can fool everyone else, but you cant fool me. You dont care one bit about following your fathers footsteps into the advertising business, so whats with the covert information operation?

Jack: (sighing) My dads been working a lot lately. More than usual. He usually would go to Providence once or twice a week, but for the past few months hes been going there more and more. The last time he was like this was when the firm almost went under and we lost almost everything.

Jen: Oh Jack, Im so sorry.

Jack: Thanks, those werent the best times for the McPhees, but things got better. My dad was able to move home, or to Capeside I guess, but lately hes been in Providence more than here, and... (his voice trails off)

Jen: (finishing his sentence) Youre worried?

Jack: Yeah. I dont worry about it for me really. I worry for Andie that she wont be able to go to Harvard, and my mom. The hospitals not cheap, and my dad too. He put so much work into his job, and into our family lately.

Jen: (covering Jacks hand with hers) Its just like you to worry about everyone but yourself. I guess Ill have to worry about you.

Jack: That would be nice. (Jen squeezes his hand) I just cant find any information though. (clicking the window closed) Okay, youre probably right, and Ill just ask him about it. Thats what I should have done in the first place.

Jen: Good.

Jack: So what are you doing here?

Jen: I was looking for you.

Jack: And you found me, so whats up?

Jen: (reaching into her bag she pulls out the Donnas CD) This is whats up. (she sets it on the table in front of Jack)

Jack: (picking it up) Its a CD.

Jen: I know its a CD.

Jack: I repeat the question, so whats up?

Jen: This was left on my porch yesterday.

Jack: By who?

Jen: I dont know.

Jack: (his brow furrows) This is the one you dont have. The one youve been wanting.

Jen: And give the man a prize. Who would know I like the Donnas and even more who would know that this is the one CD of theirs I didnt have, and wanted.

Jack: Well I know that.

Jen: But you didnt leave it.

Jack: No I didnt.

Jen: Jack, I may be crazy, but I think Henry left it.

Jack: Wait Henry Parker. (Jen nods) Why? I mean when was the last time you guys even talked?

Jen: Dawsons filming when I made it perfectly clear I wanted nothing to do with him anymore, but hes the only other person who knows my CD collection that well.

Jack: It could be a coincidence.

Jen: (disheartened) You think Im crazy.

Jack: No I dont. I guess I just dont want to think about Henry leaving you gifts.

Jen: Neither do I.

Jen takes the CD back from Jack, and tosses it into a nearby trashcan.

Fade out...

Act 2

Int. Capeside High Cafeteria (Day 3)

Pacey is sitting alone at a table in the corner of the cafeteria. He is reading the newspaper he has spread out in front of him. Joey walks up to his table. She runs her fingers through his hair, causing Pacey to look up.

Joey: Hey.

Joey kisses the top of his head before sitting down.

Pacey: Hey yourself.

Joey: What are you looking at?

Pacey: Jobs.

Joey: (interested) Anything good?

Pacey: (shaking his head) Not really. Im not even really sure what Im looking for.

Pacey closes the newspaper.

Joey: Well I found something you might be interested in.

Pacey: (raising an eyebrow) Really? (Joey nods) Do tell. (Joey hands him the ad from the bulletin board; he reads it) Capeside Community College presents Our Town. (Pacey looks up at Joey)

Joey: What do you think?

Pacey: About Capeside Community College doing Our Town? They could have picked a better play. I mean isnt Our Town the play with no dialogue.

Joey: No sets Pacey. Our Town has no sets.

Pacey: Whatever. Its still pretty lame. Whats this got to do with me?

Joey: Keep reading.

Pacey: Auditions opened to the public. (looking up at Joey)

Joey: Well?

Pacey: You want me to audition for Our Town?

Joey: Why not? I mean you did that play last year, and you really liked it, and you were really good at it.

Pacey: I sucked.

Joey: You did not suck. (Pacey snorts) You did not suck. I would have told you if you sucked. Pacey why dont you just try?

Pacey: (warning tone) Jo.

Joey: What?

Pacey: Thank you, but...

Joey: (cuts him off) Dont push right?

Pacey: Dont push.

Joey: (looking down) Im sorry.

Pacey: No dont be sorry. (he lifts her chin up with his fingers) Your hearts in the right place. (Pacey leans in and gives Joey a quick kiss) So hows your day going?

Joey: Good. (pausing) I had an interesting conversation with Dawson this morning.

Pacey: (raising his eyebrow) This should be good. So what did you and Dawson talk about?

Joey: You actually.

Pacey: (dryly) Why do I suddenly not want to know.

Joey: (ignoring his comment) Why didnt you tell me you went to see him yesterday?

Pacey: Oh that. (shrugging) Cause it wasnt that big of a deal.

Joey: It was a big enough deal for Dawson to mention.

Pacey: Youre mad at me?

Joey: No not mad. Just curious as to why you wouldnt want to tell me you talked to Dawson.

Pacey: I just didnt think it was important (Joey gives him a look like she knows hes lying; Pacey sighs) Because it means so much to you.

Joey: (confused) I dont understand.

Pacey: Me and Dawson reconciling its important to you, and I didnt tell you because I didnt want to give you false hope.

Joey: (worried) Did something bad happen?

Pacey: No, nothing bad at all. Its just. (pausing) Its just were still not really friends.

Joey: (disappointed) Oh.

Pacey: But I think were going to get there. Its just going to take some time, and Jo I think it would be better if you stayed out of it. This is something Dawson and I have to do without your help.

Joey: (quietly) Okay (pausing) At least youre talking.

Pacey: Yeah. (pausing) So youre not mad I didnt tell you are you?

Joey: No, Im not mad. I understand. Completely understand, and youre right. I need to stay out of it.

Pacey: Thank you. (He leans over and kisses her. They pull apart and Joey caresses his cheek smiling. Pacey smiles and kisses her forehead before leaning back in his seat.) Hey Jo?

Joey: What?

Pacey: What do you say we go out tonight?

Joey: On like a date?

Pacey: (nodding) Yeah like a date. Whats wrong with a date?

Joey: Nothings wrong with a date. We just usually dont go on actual dates.

Pacey: Well we should start. Its uncomplicated, and simple, and itll be a nice change.

Joey: Youre right.

Pacey: So were going out tonight?

Joey: (smiling) Yeah.

Pacey: (grinning) Excellent.

Joey: So what are we doing on our date?

Pacey: Well I was thinking we could grab some food, and maybe hang out on True Love.

Joey: Pacey thats what we do every night.

Pacey: Okay okay youre right. I really hadnt thought this date through the asking part.

Joey: Imagine that Pacey Witter not thinking ahead.

Pacey: You know what Potter?

Joey: No enlighten me.

Pacey: (leaning in to whisper near her ear) Im going to make tonight the best night of your life.

Joeys breathe catches, and she closes her eyes.

Int. Capeside High Library (Day 3)

Dawson is in the stacks of the library looking for a book. His eyes roam the shelves, and spotting what he is looking for he grabs the book from the shelf. He flips through it quickly before snapping it shut and walking towards the check out desk. On his way he passes Tallulah sitting on a couch her feet curled up underneath her writing in a notebook. He stops in front of her.

Dawson: Hey.

Tallulah: (not looking up) Hey Dawson. (she writes something and then looks up) Whats up?

Dawson: Nothing much (holding up his book) just getting a book.

Tallulah: (reading the title on the spine) Philosophy and the French Revolution?

Dawson: For my European History paper.

Tallulah: Oh, sounds fun.

Dawson: (laughing) Not really. (looking at her notebook) What are you doing?

Tallulah: (closing her notebook) Just some writing.

Dawson: (sitting down) Poetry?

Tallulah: Yes.

Dawson: Can I read it?

Tallulah: (bluntly) No.

Dawson: Why not?

Tallulah: Because I said so.

Dawson: So youll read your poetry for complete strangers, but you wont let me read it?

Tallulah: I didnt read this one to anyone since its not done.

Dawson: Well can I read something that is done?

Tallulah: Why are you being so insistent?

Dawson: Im curious. Id like to know what you write about.

Tallulah: Thats sweet.

Dawson: That was patronizing.

Tallulah: (laughing) You caught me.

Dawson: So can I read something?

Tallulah: No.

Dawson: Oh come on. Please.

Tallulah: (shaking her head, she puts her notebook into her backpack) Nope.

Dawson: Why not? I promise I wont make fun.

Tallulah: Thats not what Im worried about.

Dawson: What are you worried about?

Tallulah: Nothing.

Dawson: Then why cant I read it?

Tallulah: Because you want to so badly.

Dawson: Actually I dont want to read it at all.

Tallulah: Nice try with the reverse psychology, but its not going to work.

Dawson: So I never get to read anything you write?

Tallulah: No you can.

Dawson: When?

Tallulah: When Ive tortured you enough.

Dawson: Youre so sweet.

Tallulah: Youre so funny.

Dawson: Thanks.

Tallulah: Ill tell you what, go with me tonight and afterwards Ill let you read whatever you want.

Dawson: (hesitantly) Go where?

Tallulah: To the concert in the park.

Dawson: (questioningly) The concert in the park?

Tallulah: Yeah I try to go every week, well at least since I moved here, and this week is the last week they are having it before it stops for winter. Its fun listening to the music, being outside, so you wanna go?

Dawson: Sure why not.

Tallulah: Okay.

Dawson: (standing up) But its not because I want to read your poetry. Ill see ya tonight.

Dawson walks away.

Int. Coffee Shop (Afternoon Of Day 3)

Joey and Jen are walking to a table holding cups of coffee.

Jen: Thanks for coming with me Joey.

Joey: No problem.

Jen: I just didnt really want to go home.

Joey: Problems with Grams?

Jen: No, nothing like that. Its a long story.

Joey: (sitting down at a table) Well we have a whole mocha to drink, and we have to talk about something.

Jen: (sitting down) Well we could talk about you and Pacey.

Joey: What about me and Pacey?

Jen: Hows that going?

Joey: Good.

Jen: Thats great.

Joey: It is. (pausing) Jen, whats wrong?

Jen: You know its too unbelievable to even talk about.

Joey: Okay, but if you ever want to talk...

Jen: Thanks Joey. (pausing) Its just these weird things have been happening lately, and its kind of creeping me out.

Joey: (curiously) What kind of things?

Jen: Like getting flowers, and presents from an anonymous person. Constantly having this feeling that Im being watched.

Joey: (concerned) Someones stalking you?

Jen: No. I didnt say stalk. Its just (pausing) just weird.

The same waiter from the last episode comes up to the table.

Waiter: Excuse me this is for you. (he sets an apple cinnamon muffin on the table)

Jen: (noticeably pales) Whos it from?

Waiter: Some guy.

Jen: What did he look like?

Waiter: I dont know...blonde hair.

Jen: (looking around the coffee shop) Is he still here?

Her eyes fall on Jude sitting in a corner by himself. He smiles at her.

Waiter: No, he wanted me to wait until he had left.

Jen: (looking back at the waiter) I dont want it.

Waiter: (confused) What?

Jen: I dont want it. Throw it away, give it to someone else, or eat it. (getting angry) I dont care. I dont want it.

Waiter: (looking at her like shes crazy) Okay. (he picks up the muffin and walks away)

Joey: What was that?

Jen: (whispering) Thats what Im talking about.

Jude: (standing next to Jens chair) Hi Jen.

Jen: (trying to act normal she smiles) Hi Jude. (Jude looks at Joey) Sorry, Jude this is my friend Joey. Joey this is...

Joey: (interrupting her) Jude. Nice to meet you.

Jude: You too Joey. (turning back to Jen) I saw you over here and just thought I would say hi.

Joey: Why dont you sit down?

Jude: You dont mind?

Joey shakes her head no. Jude looks to Jen.

Jen: Not at all.

Jude sits down. Theres an awkward silence that is broken when Joey abruptly stands up.

Joey: I was just getting ready to go. I have to go meet up with Pacey. It was nice meeting you Jude, and Jen Ill talk to you later.

Joey walks away in a hurry. Jen turns back to Jude with an embarrassed smile.

Jen: That was subtle. Im sorry.

Jude: Dont be. Im sorry I ran your friend off. I hope it wasnt something I didnt say.

Jen: (laughing) No it wasnt.

Jude: Did your friend like his gift certificate?

Jen: I dont know really. I never got a chance to give it to him.

Jude: You didnt?

Jen: No, he didnt show up to his birthday party.

Jude: (impressed) Thats classic.

Jen: Well it didnt go over well with his girlfriend.

Jude: Yeah girlfriends tend to be like that.

Jen: You have a girlfriend?

Jude: Not currently, but from past experience its never a good idea to disappoint a girl.

Jen: So then you try not to disappoint girls.

Jude: Its a general rule. How am I doing?

Jen: (laughing) Good. No disappointment yet.

Jude: Yet? Does that mean I might get the chance to disappoint you in the future?

Jen: Theres always that chance.

Jude: Well how about tonight?

Jen: Tonight?

Jude: Go out with me tonight, and well see if I cannot disappoint you.

Jen: (thinks about it for a moment) Okay.

Jude: Great.

Int. Daniels House (Evening of Day 3)

Daniel is sitting at the piano in his living room playing Rondo Alla Turca by Mozart. He flubs a few keys, and bangs his hands down on the keys.

Andie: (from behind him) It sounded good.

Daniel: (turning around) Trust me it wasnt.

Andie: (smiling) Well it sounded good from here. (pausing) Your mom let me in. (Daniel nods, and Andie sits down next to him) Will you play it again for me?

Daniel: All right.

Daniel begins to play, and Andie watches his face. She listens in silence for a while.

Andie: I like this one. I forget what it is though.

Daniel: Mozart. Rondo Alla Turca. I used to play it all the time. (pausing) Its not as easy as I remember.

Andie: Whyd you stop?

Daniel: (flinching as he makes mistakes) Because for a while all I cared about being was high not a great pianist.

Andie: (quietly) Im sorry.

Daniel: (sadly) So am I. I never knew how much it mattered to me until I was clean and unable to play like I used to. Im not sure Ill ever be able to again.

Andie: Just keep practicing. (They sit in silence as Daniel continues to play making quite a few mistakes. Andie rests her hand on his shoulder) Play something you wrote.

Daniel drags his hands along the keys before starting to play again.

Andie: Daniel, what would you say if I asked you if you would help with the music on Dawsons film?

Daniel: Id say Dawson probably doesnt want my help.

Andie: He does. It was his idea.

Daniel: (his hands stop moving and the room falls into silence as he looks up at Andie) It was?

Andie: Yeah. I told him you write music, and well he needs music for his movie.

Daniel: (looking back down again) I dont know.

Andie: Would you think about it?

Daniel: (after a moment he looks up) You want me to dont you?

Andie: I wouldnt have asked if I didnt.

Daniel: (starts playing Music of the Night) Sure why not.

Andie: Thank you.

Daniel keeps playing the song, and Andie closes her eyes as she listens.

Int. Jens House (Evening of Day 3)

Jen is in her room standing in front of the mirror fussing with her hair. She is dressed to go out.

Grams: (from the doorway) Going out?

Jen: (turning around she smiles) Yeah.

Grams: You look really pretty.

Jen: (smiling) Thank you. (the phone rings) Ill get it. (Jen picks up the cordless phone by her bed) Hello. (after a pause her voice lowers) Hello. (her hand starts shaking slightly, and anger creeps into her voice) Whos there?

Jen slowly lowers the phone from her ear, and clicks it off.

Grams: (concerned) Who was it?

Jen: (shrugging trying to act normal) They hung up.

Fade out...

Act 3

Ext. Concert in the Park (Evening of Day 3)

At one end of the park there is a raised platform where the orchestra is setting up. About 5 rows of folding chairs are set up in front of the platform. Dawson and Tallulah walk hand-in-hand towards the stage.

Dawson: Howd you ever find out about this?

Tallulah: I read it in the paper when we first moved here, but let me guess this is yet another thing you never knew about.

Dawson: No actually I did. Theyve been doing this for as long as I can remember, but it never occurred to me to actually come.

Tallulah: Why doesnt that surprise me?

Dawson: (laughing) Because Im completely ignorant when it comes to the arts, or so you think.

Tallulah: Are you going to prove me wrong?

Dawson: Prove you wrong? I dont think you believe in being wrong.

Tallulah: (quietly) Ive been wrong before.

Dawson: (stopping) Really? Now this is a story Id love to hear.

Tallulah: (smiling she faces Dawson) When I was four I thought that little people were in my TV. I would sneak around the TV and try to surprise them, but they were never there. Finally, my dad sat me down and he explained to me how a television works. (turning serious she looks down) Then he explained how a telephone works, and how planes fly, and why the moon rises and the sun sets, and why the skys blue, and just about every other phenomenon that as a child I thought was from magic. (she looks up at Dawson) So you see Dawson I have been wrong before.

Dawson: Im sorry.

Tallulah: (smiling again) It wasnt all that bad. I would have found out eventually.

Dawson: Yeah. (pausing) When I saw E.T. for the first time, I was convinced aliens existed, and one would come visit me.

Tallulah: And your parents told you it was just a movie there really are no aliens.

Dawson: No, they told me anything was possible, and until I was about 10 years old I always made sure I had a bag of Reeses Pieces by my bed just in case.

Tallulah: (laughing) You are so cute.

Tallulah rests her hands on Dawsons shoulder, and kisses him. The pull apart, and Dawson takes a hold of her hands.

Dawson: (nodding towards the chairs) Shall we go sit down.

Tallulah: (pulling him over to the side of the stage) Lets go sit in the grass.

Dawson: In the grass?

Tallulah: Yes in the grass. Are you too good to sit in the grass?

Dawson: No I just didnt bring a blanket or anything.

Tallulah: Blankets are for the pretentious. Your butt can sit on the grass. (She stops and sits down pulling Dawson besides her) Tonights performance should be really good. They are going to play the music from Phantom of the Opera.

Int. Daniels House (Evening of Day 3)

Daniel is playing the very end of Music of the Night. Andie is still sitting next to him watching him play. He finishes, and she claps softly.

Andie: I love that song.

Daniel: It sounds better with all the other instruments accompanying it.

Andie: It was beautiful.

Daniel: You play something.

Andie: (shaking her head no) I dont know how to play.

Daniel: Come on everyone knows how to play something. Chopsticks? (he starts playing chopsticks) Come on everyone can play chopsticks.

Andie starts playing, and Daniel stops. He watches her as she plays not really playing it right. She finishes it and groans.

Andie: That was horrible.

Daniel: That was beautiful.

Andie: (nudging him with her shoulder) Shut up. What else do you play?

Daniel: On the piano?

Andie: No what other instruments?

Daniel: Umm guitar, bass, drums, just about any horn though I prefer the trumpet, the harmonica...

Andie: (cutting him off) Is there anything you dont play?

Daniel: Ive never played an accordion. Doesnt mean I couldnt though. (Andie laughs. Daniel stands up and takes her hand) Come on.

Andie: (standing up) Where are we going?

Daniel: My room. Ill show you all my instruments.

Andie: Okay. (she follows him and the go up the stairs) Ive never been to your room.

Daniel: Its nothing special trust me.

Andie: Still its like your space. You can tell a lot by someones bedroom.

Daniel: (opening his door) I guess.

Andie steps into his room, and looks around. Daniels room is pretty bare. There is a mattress on the floor with an alarm clock beside it. One wall has a set of shelves that contain stacks of music, and his clothes. A table sits against the far wall with a stereo on top and multiple stacks of CDs. The other wall is a closet. A drum set sits in the middle of the room.

Andie: Wow.

Daniel: Welcome to my world. (Daniel walks over to the closet as Andie continues to look around his room) I keep most of my instruments in the closet.

Andie: (walking towards his shelves and noticing the clothes on them) Instead of your clothes.

Daniel: Instead of my clothes. (he pulls out a guitar)

Andie: (picking up a stack of papers) What are these?

Daniel: (setting down his guitar he walks over to her) Nothing.

Andie: (reading the top one) 1989 first place junior division. (looking at the next one) 1990 first place junior division. (flipping to the next one) 1991 first place junior division. (stopping) You won all of these?

Daniel: (nodding) That whole stack.

Andie: Wow. Thats (she stops) Congratulations.

Daniel: (laughing he takes the stack of certificates from her) It was many years ago. I dont win awards anymore. (he tosses the certificates back onto the shelf)

Andie: (quietly) Whyd you do it?

Daniel: (looking at her in confusion) What?

Andie: (nervously) Whyd you start (pausing) you know taking drugs?

Daniel: (running his hands through his hair) Wow thats a loaded question. (he turns away from her)

Andie: Im sorry. I shouldnt have asked.

Daniel: (looking back at her) No its a fair question. I mean I had everything going for me. Great parents, doing good in school, and I was a brilliant pianist destined for greatness. Thats a direct quote by the way from the Boston Herald.

Andie: (impressed) You were in the Boston Herald?

Daniel: (shrugging) Once or twice.

Andie: Wow.

Daniel: Yeah.

Andie: So what happened?

Daniel: Its just one of those things Andie. I could blame it on the influence of the wrong crowd, or on romanticizing heroin, but really I was just stupid. I was 14, under a lot of pressure, and just stupid. Its so strange that at an age when you have no idea what you are doing you are able to make choices that will affect the rest of your life.

Andie: Its not fair.

Daniel: No, but life rarely is. I made my choice, and I paid for it (pausing) I paid big time for it, but I refuse to feel sorry for myself, and I refuse to let anyone else feel sorry for me either.

Andie: Im sorry.

Daniel: Dont be. Dont be sorry. Its the past, and I wish people would move on. I have. Im not that person anymore. (pausing he then mutters) Why cant people see that?

Andie: I see it.

Daniel: You didnt know me then. You would have hated me.

Ext. Concert in the Park (Night of Day 3)

The park is full of people now as Jen and Jude walk towards the concert. Jude has a backpack on his shoulders. The orchestra is warming up.

Jude: So Im sort of just taking some time to live life, have experiences, and find my place in the world. Which my father says is just romanticizing being a bum.

Jen laughs, but then turns serious.

Jen: I know what you mean though. I mean I applied for college and everything, but I really have no idea what I want to do. I mean how can you make that choice when you havent even lived life really. Im so scared Im going to make the wrong choice, and ten years from now hate my life.

Jude: Its a distinct possibility, but no matter what you do you can always change your mind. You always have that right.

Jen: But not the opportunity.

Jude: Which is why it is important to seize what life has to offer you, and run with it.

Jen: The whole carpe diem way to live life.

Jude: Or the idiots way. Its all about semantics. (Jen laughs; Jude stops walking) Hows this spot.

Jen: Its fine.

Jude opens his backpack and pulls out a blanket. He lays it on the grass, and they sit down.

Jude: And just so you dont think Im a completely cheap date seeing as how this is free entertainment, I brought food. (Jude pulls the food out of his backpack) Are you a vegetarian?

Jen: No why?

Jude: Because I didnt think of it until now, and I brought turkey sandwiches.

Jen: (taking the sandwich from him) I love turkey.

Jude: (looking upwards) We really lucked out with the weather. I was afraid it would be too cold out here.

Jen: It is unusually warm for this time of year.

Jude: I guess the weather gods wanted us to seize the day.

Jen: Or they are playing a wicked game, and at any moment they are going to unleash a torrent of rain on us while laughing hysterically.

Jude: Way to be positive.

Jen: Well if I was a weather god thats what Id do.

Jude: Can I ask you a question?

Jen: Sure.

Jude: How is it that a girl as beautiful, and charming as you doesnt have a boyfriend?

Jen: (looking down) Its just one of those things I guess.

Jude watches her thoughtfully.

Ext. Concert in the Park (Night of Day 3)

Dawson is sitting in the grass leaning back on his hands with Tallulah lying on her stomach next to him. They are silent as they listen to the concert. Dawson looks to his left, and stares an unreadable expression on his face. Tallulah looks back and notices Dawson staring to the left. She follows his line of sight, and sees Pacey and Joey. Joey is sitting between Paceys legs as he has his arms wrapped around her his head resting on her shoulder. Pacey kisses her neck causing Joey to turn around and they share a long kiss. Tallulah looks back to Dawson who is still watching Pacey and Joey.

Tallulah: Who are they?

Dawson: (snapping out of it and looking at Tallulah) Who?

Tallulah: Your friend (thinking) Joey, and the guy shes with.

Dawson: Pacey. His names Pacey.

Tallulah: So why are you staring at them?

Dawson: No reason. Theyre just my friends.

Tallulah: Just your friends who I never see, or hear about you hanging out with.

Dawson: (chuckling) Its a long story.

Tallulah: (thinks about it for a minute she sits up and faces Dawson) Ohhh, okay I get it.

Dawson: (confused and a bit nervous) Get what?

Tallulah: Feel free to tell me if Im wrong, but as we know Im never wrong. Joeys your ex-girlfriend isnt she?

Dawson: (cautiously) Yes we dated.

Tallulah: Pacey is a friend Ive never heard about, because you dont really talk anymore, and you dont talk anymore, because hes with Joey.

Dawson: Its more complicated then that.

Tallulah: (seriously) Do you still love her?

Dawson: (shocked he starts stammering) No, I mean in a way yes, because shes been my best friend forever. Ill always love her like that, but there is nothing more than that. Its over.

Tallulah: Do you want it to be over, or are you just waiting for her?

Dawson: Im not waiting for her. She made her choice, and yes I wasnt happy about it. In fact it broke my heart in a way I dont think will ever happen again.

Tallulah: Because she was your first love?

Dawson: No, do we have to talk about this?

Tallulah: Well I think we should. I mean I think I have a right to know if Im falling for a guy who is inexplicably attached to another girl.

Dawson: (surprised) Youre falling for me?

Tallulah: (anger creeping into her voice) Thats not answering my question.

Dawson: Im not attached to Joey. Yes she was my first love, and yes she is very important in my life. She always will be, but Ive accepted shes with Pacey. Ive accepted that she loves him. I hold no hope of her coming back to me, and even if that day ever came, I dont think I could go back to loving her the way I once did. Too much has changed. Too much has happened. I dont want to go backwards. I want to move forward.

Tallulah looks back over at Pacey and Joey. Joey entwines her hands with Paceys, brings them to her lips and kisses his hand. Pacey kisses her cheek, and she turns her head to bring his lips to hers. They pull apart.

Joey: How did you know about this?

Pacey: What do you mean?

Joey: Just that youre really not a concert in the park kind of guy.

Pacey: What kind of guy am I?

Joey: A pizza and watching videos kind of guy.

Pacey: Hey I take offense to that. Im a very cultured guy.

Joey: About as much culture as bacteria. (Pacey looks offended) And youre dodging my question. Howd you know about this?

Pacey: If you must know Doug told me.

Joey: Going to him for dating advice now?

Pacey: Well hes very in touch with his feminine side.

Joey: It doesnt phase you at all that he has a girlfriend that is living with him does it?

Pacey: It phased me right out of a home.

Joey: (slapping him lightly) Be serious.

Pacey: Im actually really happy for Doug, but Sarah is way too good for him. Youd really like her.

Joey: Well if you like her she must be great seeing as how you have exquisite taste in women.

Pacey: How does that explain you?

Joey: (elbowing him in the stomach) You better watch it Witter.

Pacey: Youre awfully frisky tonight Potter.

Joey: (turning around her face is inches from his as she whispers) Just wait until later. (Pacey closes his eyes) Oh and Pacey. (he opens his eyes) I love pizza and videos.

Joey turns back around, and snuggles closer to Pacey.

Int. The McPhees House (Night of Day 3)

Jack is in the living room on the couch watching TV. He is leaning against the arm of the couch with is legs spread out across the rest of the couch. His feet are bare as he eats Chinese take out from the carton. He is bringing his chopsticks to his mouth when the phone rings. He is annoyed that his dinner has been interrupted and shoves the chopsticks back into the carton before setting the carton on the coffee table and reaching for the cordless phone that is also on the coffee table.

Jack: Hello.

Mr. McPhee: Hi Jack, how are things at home?

Jack: Good just eating dinner.

Mr. McPhee: Whats on the menu tonight?

Jack: Chinese.

Mr. McPhee: Andie hates Chinese.

Jack: Andies not here.

Mr. McPhee: Shes with Daniel again?

Jack: (picking up the carton of Chinese food again) Uh huh.

Mr. McPhee: Have you met him Jack?

Jack: A few times. (he brings the chopsticks to his mouth)

Mr. McPhee: And?

Jack: (with his mouth full) Hes a guy.

Mr. McPhee: Thats helpful.

Jack: (laughing) Sorry, I just dont know what else to say about him.

Mr. McPhee: (sighing) I guess Ill just have to meet him.

Jack: (setting his food down he turns serious) So hows Providence?

Mr. McPhee: (slight surprise at Jack asking that question) Busy, but good.

Jack: (hesitating) Can I ask you something?

Mr. McPhee: (theres a slight panic in his voice) What is it Jack?

Jack: Is the firm in trouble?

Mr. McPhee: (relief in his voice) Its fine. Whatever made you ask that?

Jack: (quickly) Nothing. Its stupid.

Mr. McPhee: Were doing great. Unfortunately the downside of that is it is keeping me in Providence a lot more.

Jack: (detached) We understand.

Mr. McPhee: Ill make more time to spend at home Jack. I promise.

Jack: I think Andie would like that.

Mr. McPhee: (hesitating on the other end) Tell her I called when she gets home.

Jack: I will.

Mr. McPhee: And that I will meet Daniel when I get back.

Jack: Ill let her know.

Mr. McPhee: Good night Jack.

Jack: Night.

Jack clicks the phone off, and sets it back on the table. He sighs and rubs his forehead before picking up his food again.

Int. Daniels House (Night of Day 3)

Daniel is sitting on the floor in his room his head bent over an acoustic guitar as he messes around with a tune. He stops and looks up at Andie who is sitting cross-legged across from him.

Daniel: Until I actually see the movie I cant do much in terms of music.

Andie: It sounded really good.

Daniel: Thanks. I just kind of made it up right now.

Andie: Thats an amazing ability.

Daniel: (he shrugs before holding the guitar out to her) Wanna play something?

Andie: I don't know how.

Daniel: At one time I didn't know how either.

Andie: After my butchering of Chopsticks I think we should leave the music making to you.

Daniel leans forward slightly, and brushes the hair from her face. His hand drifts down her neck barely touching her skin. He leans further forward and kisses her softly on the lips. Andies arms snake around his neck as the kiss becomes more heated. Andie begins to scoot her body closer to Daniels. Finally, Daniel drops his hands to her waist, and he pulls her onto his lap as they continue to kiss.

Ext. Concert in the Park (Night of Day 3)

The orchestra is playing Music of the Night. Joey is still wrapped in Paceys arm and she has her head resting on his shoulder as they listen to the music.

Joey: (sighing) I love this song.

Pacey: Its nice.

Joey: (looking up at Pacey) Thank you.

Pacey: (looking down at her not sure what shes referring to) For what?

Joey: Tonight. Creating a perfect moment just like you promised you would.

Pacey: (shaking his head no) I didnt do anything. Me and you Jo, we are what make these moments perfect.

Joey pulls Paceys lips down to hers and they kiss.

Joey: (quietly) Pace?

Pacey: (his eyes still closed) Hmmm...

Joey: Lets get out of here.

Pacey: (his eyes opening) Where are we going?

Joey: (standing up she pulls Pacey to his feet) Somewhere a little more private.

Pacey looks at her questioningly, and she just smiles at him.

Ext. Concert in the Park (Night of Day 3)

Tallulah is sitting with her arms resting on her knees. Dawson is sitting cross-legged next to her, but not too close. There is a noticeable tension between them. Tallulah looks towards Pacey and Joey and sees them leaving. She looks towards Dawson and finds him watching her.

Dawson: Im sorry.

Tallulah: For what?

Dawson: Whatever it is that has upset you.

Tallulah: Im not upset.

Dawson: You seem upset.

Tallulah: (getting angry) I dont need you to tell me how Im feeling.

Dawson: I wasnt. (running his hands through his hair in frustration) Im sorry I didnt tell you about Joey and Pacey before. It wasnt because I didnt want you to know, or because Im still in love with Joey. I just didnt want to complicate things between us.

Tallulah: Things always get complicated Dawson.

Dawson: (sadly) I know.

They fall into silence. Tallulah focuses on the stage, and Dawson sighs heavily.

Ext. Concert in the Park (Night of Day 3)

The orchestra is still playing Music of the Night. Jen and Jude are lying on their stomachs side by side listening to the concert. Jude turns his head to look at Jen. Feeling his eyes on her Jen turns and smiles at him.

Jen: Im having a really great time.

Jude: So am I. (pausing) Maybe we could do this again.

Jen: Id like that.

Jude: Me too.

They smile at each other before they both look forward again. Jens smile fades, and she looks behind her. Not seeing anything she turns back forward. Jude turns to look at her and notices the troubled look on her face.

Jude: (concerned) Are you okay?

Jen: (forcing herself to smile, but her uneasiness is evident in her voice) Im fine.

A look of concerned confusion crosses over Judes face as he looks at her. He turns around, and his brow furrows.

Jude: (looking back at Jen) Who is that guy?

A noticeable panic passes over Jen as she whips her head around. No one is there.

Jen: (her voice shaking) Who?

Jude: (turning back around) He was there a second a go.

Jen: (abruptly standing up) Can we leave?

Jude: (watching her) Sure.

Jude stands up and collects the blanket and his bag as Jen stands there with her arms wrapped around her body protectively looking at the ground.

Jude: Okay lets go.

Jen quickly looks around again before following Jude silently.

Int. Daniels House (Night of Day 3)

Andie is still sitting in Daniels lap with her legs on either side of his body as they kiss heatedly. Daniels hand is tangled in Andies hair as her hands rest on his shoulders. Daniels runs his other hand down her back as he moves to kiss her neck. Andies breathing is heavy as Daniel kisses her neck.

Andie: We should stop.

Daniel: (whispering near her ear) We should?

Andie: (pushing slightly away from him) Yes. (Daniel sighs, and leans back on his hands) Youre mad?

Daniel: Im not mad?

Andie: You seem mad.

Daniel: Im not mad.

Andie: (moving off his lap) Okay.

Daniel: Why would you think Id be mad?

Andie: I dont know. I just thought...(her voice trails off)

Daniel: Thought what?

Andie: I just thought you might be.

Daniel: You know sometimes I get the feeling youre scared of me.

Andie: (quickly) Im not. (Daniel stands up and walks away from her) Im not. (Daniel doesnt move and Andie stands up) Daniel. (He turns around to look at her) Im not scared of you. (quietly) Im scared of disappointing you. Im scared Im not the type of girl you want.

Daniel: If I didnt want you Andie, I wouldnt be with you.

Andie: I know.

Daniel: You know?

Andie: Yes (pausing) no (sighing) I dont know.

Daniel: You dont know?

Andie: (getting frustrated, and near tears) Stop doing that.

Daniel: What?

Andie: That. Stop making me think Im crazy for being confused.

Daniel: (gently taking a hold of her shoulders) Andie, Im sorry. Im just trying to understand, thats all.

Andie: Why does everything have to get so complicated?

Daniel: If it were easy, it wouldnt be worth it. (Daniel pulls her into a hug) Well just slow down, okay?

Andie nods as Daniel continues to hold her.

Int. True Love (Night of Day 3)

Pacey and Joey walk down the stairs into True Love. Joey walks over to the bed, and lights the candle sitting next to it. She takes off her jacket, and drops it on the floor.

Joey: I really had a great time tonight Pace.

Pacey: (sitting down on the edge of the bed, he starts taking his shoes off) Me too. We should go out more often.

Joey: (lifting her right leg, and taking off her shoe) I agree.

Pacey: (noticing her taking of her shoes) You plan on staying tonight?

Joey: (dropping her other shoe on the floor, and moving towards Pacey) Maybe.

Joey stands in front of Pacey, and he puts his hands on her waist, and she lowers herself onto his lap. Pacey brushes her hair from her face, and softly caresses her cheek with his thumb. Joey leans into his touch, and closes her eyes.

Pacey: (barely above a whisper) I love you.

Joey opens her eyes, and leans forward finding his lips. The share a long kiss. Joey pulls back, and again stares into his eyes.

Pacey: (quietly) Jo...

Joey: (putting her finger on his lips) Shhh. (Pacey closes his eyes as he kisses her finger) I dont want to talk.

Pacey: (opening his eyes he searches Joeys) Are you sure?

Joey: Pacey, for 6 months all weve done is talk. Im tired of talking. (cradling his face in her hands) I dont want to talk anymore.

Joey lowers her mouth to his. She kisses him as she pushes his jacket off his shoulders. Pacey shrugs it all the way off as they continue to kiss. Joey runs her hands down Paceys chest taking a hold of the hem of his shirt. She tugs it upwards, and they break apart so she can pull it over his head. Their eyes lock as Joey drops the shirt onto the floor. Joey touches his cheek lightly before climbing off his lap and onto the bed never breaking their intense gaze. She takes his hand, and pulls him down with her onto the bed.

Joey: (softly) I love you Pacey.

They start kissing.

Fade out...

Act 4

Ext. True Love (Morning of Day 4)

The sun is just coming up. Pacey and Joey are kissing on the deck of True Love. They pull apart, and Pacey rests his forehead briefly against hers before taking a step back and placing his hands on her waist.

Pacey: You sure you dont want me to walk you home?

Joey: Ill be fine. (Joey looks towards the rising sun) It feels like summer again.

Pacey: You cant possibly mean the weather.

Joey: (laughing lightly) No, I mean us...on deck...watching the sunrise. Thats one of my best memories of the summer.

Pacey: Mine too. There is no better way to start the day.

Joey: I agree. I think the thing I miss most is you being the first thing I see when I wake up.

Pacey: Any time Potter. You are always welcome to stay here with me.

Joey: That sounds like heaven.

Pacey grins. He leans forward and kisses her softly. Joey lowers her head, and takes a hold of his hands before looking up again.

Joey: I have to go.

Pacey: I know.

Joey moves closer to Pacey so their bodies are pressed up against one another. They kiss deeply.

Int. McPhees House (Morning of Day 4)

Jack is sitting at the island in the kitchen drinking a cup of coffee. Andie walks in looking tired. She sits down next to Jack, and grabs a bagel from the basket in the middle of the island. Jack watches her as she bites into the bagel.

Jack: Rough night? (Andie shrugs) Problems with James Dean?

Andie: Im not in the mood for this right now Jack.

Jack: (guilty) Sorry. (pausing) Want to talk about it?

Andie: No offense Jack, but some things I just cant talk about with you.

Jack: (sadly) Okay.

Andie: Im sorry. Its just some things you dont tell your brother.

Jack: Oh (pausing; with emphasis) Oh.

Andie: (appalled) Not that.

Jack: (relieved) Good.

Andie: (defensive) Whys that good?

Jack: Not good. I meant (pausing) I dont know what I meant. I guess youre right some things you shouldnt tell your brother.

Andie: (sadly) Yeah.

They sit in silence for a while. Andie picks at her bagel, and Jack sips his coffee.

Jack: (setting his cup down) Actually no. Andie you can tell me anything. Nothing you do could ever change my opinion of you. Nothing you do could ever disappoint me.

Andie: Thank you.

Jack: I mean it Andie. Were all weve got. I dont know what I would do without you.

Andie: Youd be okay Jack, and you have other people who love you. Jen, Grams, Dad(Jack looks away) What is it?

Jack: Nothing.

Andie: Did something happen with Dad?

Jack: No. He called last night though. He wanted me to tell you that. He um said he would try to spend more time at home.

Andie: Thats good.

Jack: If you dont mind feeling like another thing that needs to be fit into his busy schedule.

Andie: Jack, I thought you and Dad were getting along okay.

Jack: We are. Its just I cant erase all the years of feeling that way. Things have been going so well lately, and I dont want to lose him again Andie. I dont, but I am scared its happening again.

Andie: Its not. I know its not Jack.

Jack: Yeah youre probably right. (pausing) but I cant help but think we are being set up for a fall.

Andie: Have a little faith in him Jack. I know he hasnt been a model father to you, but he knows that, and hes trying. Hes really trying Jack, and hes going to screw up. We all do, but please give him the benefit of the doubt. If not for him then for me.

Jack: Okay.

Andie covers his hand with hers.

Int. Capeside High Cafeteria (Day 4)

Dawson is sitting at a table alone eating his lunch. A piece of paper folded in half lands on the table next to him, and he turns around to find Tallulah standing there.

Dawson: (picking up the paper) Whats this?

Tallulah: (sitting down next to him) I told you if you went with me last night Id let you read something I wrote.

Dawson: I sort of thought all bets were off.

Tallulah: I never break a promise.

Dawson: (watching her carefully) Thank you. (Tallulah nods) So are we okay?

Tallulah: Yeah.

Dawson: (skeptical) We are?

Tallulah: (nodding) Last night just made me realize that maybe youre not as uncomplicated as I thought, and that doesnt have to be a bad thing.

Dawson: It doesnt?

Tallulah: No, it actually makes you more interesting.

Dawson: You have a perverse way of thinking.

Tallulah: And just think you barely know me. You have yet to explore the depths of my perversions.

Dawson: (grinning) Hopefully I can change that.

Tallulah: Well see.

Int. Jens House (Afternoon of Day 4)

Jen is sitting at the kitchen table books spread out in front of her as she does her homework. Shes writing in a notebook when the phone rings. Jen turns and looks at the phone eyeing it with trepidation. The phone rings again, but Jen doesnt move. It rings a third time.

Grams: (from another room) Jennifer could you get the telephone?

Jen stands up slowly, and cautiously walks towards the phone as it rings again. She places her hand, which is shaking slightly on the phone as it rings again. She lifts the receiver to her ear.

Jen: (with an edge of dread in her voice) Hello?

Jude: (on the other end of the phone) Jen?

Jen: (smiling her voice relaxes) Hey.

Jude: Hey yourself. Is this a bad time?

Jen: No not at all. I was just doing some homework. (twirling the cord around her fingers) So whats up?

Jude: Well I wanted to call and see if everything was okay.

Jen: Everythings fine.

Jude: Its just last night it seemed like something was wrong.

Jen: No, I just got spooked. Im sorry.

Jude: No apologies. I was just worried it was something I did.

Jen: No it wasnt you. I promise.

Jude: Okay. It must have been the Phantom of the Opera then.

Jen: (laughing) Maybe. (pausing) I had a great time.

Jude: So did I. (a short pause) And seeing as how we both had a great time last night, can we do it again?

Jen: Id like that.

Jude: Friday night sound good?

Jen: It sounds perfect.

Jude: Great, so then Ill see you on Friday.

Jen: Yup.

Jude: Okay.

Jen: Great.

Jude: Definitely great.

Jen: (laughing) Okay, Ill see you on Friday then.

Jude: Wait, are you trying to get rid of me?

Jen: No. I just thought the conversation was over.

Jude: Well it doesnt have to be.

Jen: Okay what do you want to talk about?

Jude: (after a pause) How bout them Red Socks?

Jen: Red Socks?

Jude: Yeah, I mean Im pretty optimistic about their chances next year.

Jen: Jude.

Jude: What?

Jen: Bye.

Jude: I can think of something better to talk about. Just hold on. (theres a long pause) Okay this is embarrassing.

Jen: (laughing) Tell you what, when you think of something give me a call.

Jude: Ill do that.

Jen: Okay.

Jude: Bye.

Jen: Bye.

Jen hangs up the phone. Her hand lingers on the receiver as she smiles. The phone rings again, and Jen laughs as she picks it up.

Jen: Think of something already? (theres no reply and Jens smile fades) Hello. (no answer) Whos there? (still no answer; yelling) Answer me Damn it.

The porch screen bangs causing Jen to scream and drop the phone. Grams hurries into the kitchen to see Jen standing in the kitchen pale, and shaking the phone dangling off the hook.

Grams: (extremely worried) What is it Jennifer?

Jen: (stammering she points to the porch) Someones out there.

Grams looks out onto the porch, and smiles.

Grams: Its just the wind. A storm is coming. We should secure all the shutters (Grams looks at Jen who is still frozen in terror. She looks at the phone) Is someone on the phone?

Jen snaps out of her daze, and quickly hangs the phone up.

Jen: (quietly almost to herself) Wrong number.

Ext. Street in Capeside (Afternoon of Day 4)

Clouds have gathered in the sky, and the wind is blowing. A storm is eminent. Pacey and Joey are walking down the street hand-in-hand. Joey looks towards the sky.

Joey: I think a storm is coming.

Pacey: (looking up) It looks that way.

They walk in silence for a while. A few raindrops fall.

Joey: Maybe we should get inside.

Pacey: Its just a little rain. Nothing to run from.

Joey: Yeah.

They again walk in silence for a while as a light sprinkle starts.

Joey: Hey Pace?

Pacey: Hmmm...

Joey: Do you feel like things have changed?

Pacey: (looking at Joey) Because of last night?

Joey: Yeah.

Pacey: (stopping he faces her) What are you saying?

The rain starts coming down a little harder.

Joey: Just that Im standing here, and its cold, and its raining, and I dont even care.

Pacey: Is that a good thing?

Joey: (smiling) A very good thing. I dont ever remember being this content, or this happy in my life. Its so different. And its not even about (pausing) the sex. Its just last night I realized how beautiful, and safe, and special you make me feel every day. (pausing) Thank you Pacey.

Pacey: (shaking his head) You dont have to thank me for that. Im just returning the favor.

Joey stands on the tips of her toes, and presses a kiss to Paceys lips. Paceys hands encircle her waist as they continue to kiss. The steady rain suddenly turns into a downpour, and Joey pulls away from Pacey.

Joey: (laughing) Oh my God.

Pacey grabs her hand, and they run off. Joey stops, wraps her arms around Paceys neck, and kisses him. He tangles his hand in her hair, and uses his other hand to pull her tightly against him as they continue to kiss as the rain pours down on them.

Fade out...
