A Rebuilding World
Death, Destruction, Doom. It was on September 11th, 2001 on a bright sunny day when the world was shocked forever. The two skyscrapers collapsed to the city ground after being struck by two seven forty seven airplanes. With in the following minutes of the crashes people began jumping out of windows trying to escape the blazing fires and the collapsing ceilings. This truly was a day that will live in infamy. The World Trade Center (WTC) should be rebuilt whether its in two years of twenty years. The WTC is a major landmark of the whole world. The West Side of the city looks completely empty and drained without these two, hundred story spectacular skyscrapers. In rebuilding the WTC we can show the world and the terrorists that committed this fatal crime that we will never back down or fall into the hands of another country. The reconstruction of these impressive buildings will also stand as a memorial for all the lives that were lost and for all the grieving families. It will no longer be just a business center but rather a place where the American culture can be represented.
Just seven months ago America lost one of the largest landmark’s in the world. New York City looks bare without the WTC. It’s like a missing piece of a puzzle; the city is not complete without them. With these missing buildings it shows that America too, is vulnerable to attack. Without letting the world know that America can still recover from something as shocking as this event many countries might ponder the idea of attacking and conquering the United States. The WTC is a symbol of New York City and its powerhouse role in the world. New York is suppose to be the greatest city in the world. What will people think when they see that New York has lost one of its major attributes? The people of New York and America have to stand up and show the world that we will not drop to our knees and whimper until our destruction. America will live on and prosper no matter what. The rebuilding of the WTC will give the people of New York a sense of joy and pride in our nation.
Resilience, the ability to recover quickly from illness, change, or misfortune. That is what America is known for. Whenever our country has fallen into a recession we have some how found a way to bounce out of it and return to prosperity. "You can be sure that the American spirit will prevail over this tragedy." (US Secretary of State Colin Powell) Americans took adversity and rebounded from this terrible tragedy. This incident also brought Americans closer together and more supportive. There was a lot less violence in America in the weeks following September 11th. Subway rides were a lot less brutal, they were actually quite pleasant. In general people were a lot more friendly to each other not only in New York but all over America. Also the citizens of the United States began to really enjoy and live every single day for what it is worth, because who knows if they will be alive the following day. In order for a country to strive and live on and they have to be able to recover from any type of destruction.
The WTC will also stand as a memorial for all the families who lost loved ones. The rebuilding of these towers will represent the tragedy of September 11th as well as a business center for all of the world. When tourists come to see New York, many will go to the WTC immediately to see the immense towers and the memorial that was built for all the people that were lost. The memorial will also be a place where families can grieve and remember their lost ones. The incidents that occurred at the WTC has taught us that Americans need to be aware what is happening in the world around us. America cannot take an isolationist outlook on life. The United States never had any contemplation that Afghanistan had any intention on destroying our greatest city. Although this is such a bad tragedy America has learned to become more patriotic. The prejudice against each other has slowly diminished and more and more people are becoming friendly towards each other. Even though this was a great calamity some good did come out of it because our country was forced to unite as one.
Rebuilding the WTC, is by far a good idea. Although the time and money is great, the outcome will be far more rewarding. Not only will we be able to show our strength to the world, but the grieving families will get some sense of closure. The WTC is also very important part of the business and tourist world. They are a part of our city that needed and desired.
