King's Quest V:
Absence Makes the Heart Go Yonder
Plot Summary
King Graham must travel over the mountains
to the east of Serenia to get to Mordacks castle. But first, he needs to
gather supplies for his jorney. He does this in the land of Serenia, where
he meets many strange people and creatures, some friendly, some unfriendly.
When he consults a gypsy fortune teller, he learns the reason for his family's
obduction. It turns out that Mordack is the brother of Mannanan, the evil
wizard that Prince Alexander managed to transform into a cat and escape
from in King's Quest III: To Heir is Human. Mordack is now taking
revenge on the royal family of Daventry. He's miniaturized the whole castle
of Daventry and placed it in a glass jar in his laboratory, making it impossible
for the royal family to escape. Graham travels over mountains and oceans,
meeting many perils on his way, before he finally arrives at Mordack's
island and manages to penetrate his castle. Inside he finds Cassima,
princess of the Land of the Green Isles, held captive in Mordacks castle
until she'd agree to marry him. With help from Cassima, King Graham manages
to defeat Mordack. Then, Crispin comes to Graham's help and turns his castle
and family back to normal again. Prince Alexander is spellbound by the
beautiful Princess Cassima, and promises to come and visit her in the Land
of the Green Isles...
