King's Quest: Quest for the Crown 
Plot summary

As Sir Graham, you are ordered by King Edward to journey out into the kingdom of Daventry, searching for the three lost treasures. If you can recover them, you will inherit the throne of Daventry upon his death. If you fail, the kingdom will grow so weak that eventually it will be conquered by an unfriendly nation.

The kingdom of Daventry is inhabited by people and other creatures, both friendly and unfriendly, and there are many dangers to look out for. Finding many helpful items on the way, Sir Graham must find the three treasures and manage to take them away from their guardians. On the way he meets many creatures known from folklore and fairy-tales, including the witch from Hansel and Gretel, a greedy, bridge-guarding troll, a giant in a cloudy mountain land, a fire-breathing dragon, a strange old gnome, a bunch of leprechauns and many more. Using your knowledge of old legends and fairy-tales is a good idea. The solutions to the puzzles in the game are often similar (or equal) to the ones used in these stories.
