| August, 2007 This cute little girl "Ayame" did not survive Parvo. We and the vet did everything we could for her, she was just too small and only had the first shot that we gave her when she came into our rescue. Unfortunately she had already been exposed before she came to us and the vaccination didn't have time to work. Our group would like to stress the importance of having ALL pets vaccinated. Especially puppies as soon as they can get to the vet, as young as 6 weeks. Dr. Free had 7 puppies with parvo the week Ayame was there. Parvo can spread very quickly before anyone knows the puppies have been exposed. We did have another puppy come down with it, but he was older and had some of his puppy shots already, so he recovered and is living in his new home. In 2008 we had another puppy that did not make it through parvo, and it sadens us to have any of these precious little ones have to go through this disease. Parvo may be avoidable if every dog owner would take their dog to get all the yearly vaccinations, from puppy age on throughout their life. Now, March '08, we have three more puppies being treated for parvo, it just seems to come from nowhere. We really hope Wishbone, Princess and Angel can fight this and make it through. Here are some websites to read about parvo: http://www.veterinarypartner.com/Content.plx?P=A&C=&A=580&SourceID http://www.cpvh.com/Articles/39.html We would gladly accept donations for the vet bills.
