Greetings to all those who have taken part in the Math Project during these past months. We've enjoyed hearing about your classes and about your interests in exploring how math is used in the wider world. Thank you for your enthusiastic participation. We are very happy to have so many different voices in this group. For instance, the languages represented among us include: English, Spanish, Catalan, Portuguese, Lithuanian, Latvian, Cantonese, Romanian, Estonian, Russian, Dutch, and other Pacific Islander and African languages. Our project now includes classes from many parts of the globe: * South America and the Caribbean (Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Peru, Paraguay, Puerto Rico, Suriname)It has been really interesting to see the communications and cultural packages that the different classes have planned. Thanks for sharing your exchanges with the group. We want encourage you to send us any comments or suggestions you have about the activities of the project so we can make the work more valuable for all. With your feedback and the active collaboration of all the diverse groups participating, the result will be more enriching for all. We look forward to continuing this project in January, February, and March and to hearing about the results of the many different investigations taking place. We know that soon many of the classes in the different countries will take a holiday break. We hope you will all have the opportunity to have rest, peace, and fun during this season. Los amigos del Salon Azul del Centro Preescolar de la Universidad de Puerto Rico les envian su colage matematico con saludos navidenos. Nuestro colage tiene forma de arbol de navidad. El disenar y preparar el arbol de navidad con laminas de materiales del area de matematicas tiene un gran significado y pertinencia para los ninos y ninas del Salon Azul. Las laminas del colage son representacion
de los materiales que ellos utilizan diariamente en el salon: caja registradora
para conocer el uso de las monedas, el reloj para conocer la hora, las
figuras geometricas de muchos y variados colores y texturas, las pinturas
para nuestros trabajos de arte y los manipulativos con los
