Jesus is the endless fountain
Of pure love and grace alone!
Who'd have for the sake of sinners
Died like he, to sin atone?
Who'd have gone for his own mockers,
Murderers and persecutors
Into death as hard as stone?

Christ alone did this accomplish,
He alone for all blood shed.
He has seen such pain and anguish
That no mouth can make it said.
Everything he carried humbly,
Gave his life and spirit humbly
On the cross, his dying bed.

For what reason Jesus suffered
All that pain so long ago?
Out of his sheer love for sinners, 
For us who have sunk so low
Christ stepped down to mortal passion,
Opening the gates of Heaven,
For us did He suffer so.

Why do you let all the anguish
Gnaw your soul, O sinful one?
Why do you still bear the burden?
Look, Christ has all sin undone!
Being preached is full atonement, 
Have faith with no discontentment
In the pardon of things done.

Yours indeed is grace completely,
Though your soul be filled with gloom,
Even when with flames so fiery
Anguish does your heart consume.
Jesus took our sins on his head
And gave up himself in our stead
To the cross and to the tomb.

Rakkauden, armon lähde
Jeesus ompi pohjaton!
Ken ois kuollut synnin tähden,
niin kuin Jeesus kuollut on?
Ken ois eestä pilkkaajainsa,
vainoojainsa, murhaajainsa
käynyt kovaan kuolohon?

Jeesus on sen yksin tehnyt,
yksin hän, ei kukaan muu.
Hän on vaivat, tuskat nähnyt,
joit ei kertoa voi suu.
Nöyränä hän kaiken kantoi,
nöyränä hän henkens antoi
vuoteenansa ristinpuu.

Minkä tähden kaiken vaivan
Jeesus kärsinyt on niin?
Rakkaudestansa aivan
meihin kurjiin syntisiin
Jeesus astui kuolon vaivaan
avatakseen meille taivaan,
meidän tähden kärsi niin.

Miksi tuskan kalvaa annat
sieluas, sä syntinen?
Miksi syntein taakkaa kannat?
Katso, Kristus kantoi sen!
Sovitusta saarnatahan,
rohkaistu siis uskomahan
anteeksanto syntien.

Armo kuuluu sulle juuri,
sulle, raukka kurjinkin,
vaikka rintaas tuska suuri
kalvaa liekein polttavin.
Kaikkein synnit Jeesus kantoi,
kaikkein tähden itsens antoi
ristiin, kärsimyksihin.
