01.12: Eleanor splashing and having a lovely time in the water.

01.12: Visited by a friendly pelican.

01.12: Eleanor sitting on the shores trying to put reeds in her mouth.

01.12: Eleanor eating dinner with us in the restaurant.

02.12: Eleanor slept in her Port-a-Cot for the first time. In the course of the night she rotated 90 degrees and got her covers off her legs and over her head.

03.12: Sleep Clinic: Eleanor may be coughing while sleeping, eating and drinking due to oesophagus problems or due to short jaw problems. Eleanor had a chest x-ray and also a skull x-ray for Craniofacial Clinic and a spine x-ray for Spine Clinic. The chest x-ray showed evidence of aspiration over a prolonged period. Eleanor will have a sleep study after her LBO (Larynoscopy / Bronchoscopy / Oesophagoscopy) and before her mouth surgery. Next appointment and sleep study appointment to be made once mouth surgery date is known.

03.12: Eleanor started teething properly. There was coughing, a running nose and even some misery. We tried Panadol and cough medicine to little avail before it occured to us to check her gums. Much swelling but no teeth yet. Bon Jella and fourteen hours sleep overnight did the trick.

04.12: Eleanor gained 40 g (7.16 kg).

04.12: Eleanor finally graduated to a cot!

07.12: Eleanor played guitar with daddy.

07.12: Eleanor rolled from her back on to her tummy for the first time.

08.12: Surgical Clinic: The surgical people are happy with the LBO and think we cannot really do any more than we are doing when Eleanor coughs while eating and drinking in the meantime. As well as coughing bubbles are now coming out of her mouth and nose increasingly often.

09.12: Paediatrician: The Paediatrician is happy with Eleanor's growth and LBO.

Eleanor sat beside the car while daddy organised her new car seat.

09.12: Eleanor in her car seat.

10.12: Craniofacial Clinic: Eleanor had an appointment with the doctors who will do her mouth surgery. The Genetics doctor organised for Eleanor to see a Speech Pathologist immediately to try to help her eating and drinking without coughing and bubbles coming out of her mouth and nose. The Speech Pathologist is going to organise to find out whether Eleanor has a sub-muccous cleft palate and do a Modified Barium Swallow to see whether she can be helped to eat and drink before her LBO. He also referred Eleanor to Emergency where her eating and drinking were monitored. Eleanor was allowed to leave Emergency but was not discharged so we can return if necessary and a nurse will come to visit us at home over the weekend and indefinitely into the future.

15.12: Spine Clinic: Eleanor's triangular vertebrae remains unchanged. Next appointment in twelve months.

15.12: Eleanor's first tooth came down.

15.12: Eleanor clapped for the first time.

15.12: Eleanor played throw and catch with her toys for the first time.

15.12: Eleanor has been enjoying Hydralytes instead of risking choking on water.

16.12: LBO: Eleanor's oesophagus repair is still fine. However her trachea is floppy and flattened. Next appointment in the surgical clinic 09.02.05. Next appointment in the Cleft Palate clinic to be organised. Next appointment in the Speech Pathology clinic to be organised. Eleanor was kept in overnight for observation because her oxygen saturations were low. The next day the Speech Pathologist organised a milk study. Eleanor had to drink milk with radiation in it and be bound to a bed for eight photographs of eight minutes each in different positions. She did not like that and cried quite a lot but was friends with the ladies afterwards. The Speech Pathologist also wants to organise a Modified Barium Swallow next week but is not sure it will be possible so close to Christmas and for Eleanor to drink thickened water.

17.12: Eleanor said her fifth word - "Arthur".

18.12: Eleanor had a lovely ride in daddy's car with its new soft top. She flapped and clapped so much the second picture is a blur.

21.12: Eleanor playing on her mat and under the clothes basket.

21.12: Eleanor at the side of the pool at nanna and grandpa's before a swim with daddy.

21.12: Eleanor swimming backwards and forwards and standing on the step.

21.12: Eleanor eating dinner.

21.12: Eleanor playing with nanna with a comb.

21.12: Eleanor playing with toys on a mat in front of Molly dog. Her favourite was a yellow beetle!

22.12: Eleanor enjoying chocolate milk more than thickened water.

22.12: Eleanor enjoying finger food without throwing it to the ground. She much prefers cheese to bread.

22.12: Eleanor only gained 80 g in three weeks (7.240 kg). She might have to go back on the Polyjoule if it does not improve next week.
