A LONE PIPER

By
Peter 2001

A LONE PIPER

On a rampart on a castle high
Silhouetted against a sunset sky

A lone Piper played a mournful dirge
That was far more eloquent than words

It told of a love now sadly gone
Of a life, not worth the going on

The anguish and turmoil of a heart ripped asunder
With no hope or respite, is it any wonder
that the thought of relief in deaths icy clasp
Is the only solution within a young mans grasp

The rocks below seemed to beckon and call
Offering peace and tranquillity neath the castle wall

He called her name as he fell to the ground
Then all was quiet, as the sun went down
