Return to Good Stuff

IN THE NIGHT

By
Peter(c) 1998

If I awake in the night,
I watch you lying there
From your eyes I brush your hair,
You look so peaceful whilst at rest,
But why are you wearing
That smelly old vest

The moonlight glints from off your hair
You look so peaceful in repose
But as I watch you lying there
A dewdrop drips from off your nose

We've been together now
For 20 years or more
I wonder how I've managed
To put up with your snore

You mean the world to me
Of that there is no doubt
But if you don't stop that bleeding snoring
I'm going to have to throw you out

The aromatic smell of WinterGreen
Fills the air and invades my dream

I awake, startled and in fright
Almost ready to take flight
But then I realise there's nothing wrong
And I return to sleep
Oh what a Pong!
