SISTER IN LAW

By
Peter the Poet 1998

I was out one night, when I saw my wife
Dressed up in a provocative way
I followed behind,
To see where she went
And hear what she had to say

She met a man, whom she obviously knew
And with jealousy I burned
I walked up to the faithless two
And asked her why I'd been spurned

'Who are you? Go on, give us a clue?'
She asked in a disparaging way
'No, don't tell me
Your married to Elmy'

I didn't know what to say

'My twin sister Elmira would rather expire,
Than dress the way I do'

Although it pained me, I had to agree,
She would never wear anything 'see through'
I said sorry and went off in a hurry
To go and get a drink
I found a bar that wasn't too far
And sat and had a think

When I got home, my wife was there
Curled up in her favourite chair
She put down her book
And gave me a look
She could see I was in despair

'Are you all right?
You look as though you've had a fright'
She inquired in a caring way

'The look of trouble,
Is because I've just seen your double'
Was all I'd managed to say.

'No wonder you have a frown,
It seems as though Jane is back in town.
My wicked twin Sister Jane
Has always been a blot on the family name'

'How is it that her name you never did mention?'

'Because the last we heard
She was held in detention,
By the police on a morals charge.
But it's abundantly clear,
They've let her go
And she is once again at large.
Her conduct is totally shameless
Conduct I would never condone
I would never be found in the town
I'd rather be here at home.

After the night of my awful fright
Things settled down once again
But in the back of my mind
I could see my body entwined
With the wicked sister Jane

Like a night owl
I would go on the prowl
In search of the wicked twin
In the hope that if I found her
We could indulge in a little sin

I soon got my wish
And ended up in bed with the gorgeous dish
who looked exactly like my wife
But the resemblance ended there
There was nothing to compare
Because Jane was so full of life

We had wonderful times
But was it a crime
To bed your wife and her twin

With Elmira or Jane
I didn't complain
Because either way I'd win

This went on for some time
And although it was fine

I had the best of both worlds without doubt
It did bother me that when Jane I did see
Elmira was always out

I had a thought that was insane
Perhaps Elmira was really Jane
Two persons in one
But I was having so much fun
And didn't want it to end
Perhaps one day
Though not right away
For the doctor I would send

This is a work of fiction, honest!
