Return to Short & Sweet

THE INDUSTRIALIST & THE ENVIROMENTALIST

By
Peter the Poet 1998

Industrial pollution is killing us all
The fish in the rivers are dying

..........My profit sheet is standing tall
..........To increase it I'll keep trying

The rain forests are the lungs
Of the Earth

..........The rain forests,
..........I wonder how much they're worth?

There is nought so lovely as a tree

..........A tree is worth a million
..........Newspapers to me

Untreated sewage is ruining our beaches

..........The cost of treating sewage
..........Just leaves me speechless

We're importing Nuclear waste from
As far away as Japan

..........I'm importing Nuclear waste
..........From anywhere, as fast as I can

The industrial age was seen as a blessing
But now it's becoming a curse
It was supposed to make life much better
But in the long run, it's making life worse

..........Industry can & Industry will
..........Give you a better life...
..........But there is a bill

The bill is too high
We refuse to pay
Way too high
Hear what I say

..........All this fuss over a hunk
..........Of granite
..........When we've used this one up
..........We'll find a new planet
