THE CAR

By
Peter the Poet 1999

A car came out of nowhere
It was a sight to behold
The magician said the magic words
It made my blood run cold

A car came out of nowhere
The magician waved his cloak
First of all it wasn't there
Then it appeared in a puff of smoke

A car came out of nowhere
It was the best trick I'd ever seen
The magician made the car appear
Where an empty stage had been

'I wonder how he does it?'
My wife asked in a quizzical way
'If I knew that' I replied
'I could be getting his pay'
