Dog's Eye View Notes From the Road
Notes from the road--or the air
Howdy Everybody:

I'm about thirty thousand feet in the air for this episode of "notes from the road". Luckily I'm in an airplane--which makes it much easier to type.

Information first:
I'm doing my last couple of days of "radio promotion" at the moment. Radio promotion basically involves me going into a board-room full of people and playing a few songs so that they might remember who I am when it comes to playing our music. It's actually lots of fun and gives me a chance to score lots of bumper stickers and t-shirts from radio stations.

Next up on the schedule is a EUROPEAN TOUR for dog's eye view. We start in Paris on the 27th and end up in Sweden on Feb 10 with stops in Germany, Amsterdam, London, Rotterdam and Oslo. There are a bunch of band shows and then some solo stuff as well.

After Europe, I spend a week going to radio stations in the Southeast and then head to Australia for a week of promotion there.

U.S. tour begins in March. We'll start a tour in San Francisco on or near the 7th of March.

I'm proud to announce that dog's eye view will have a song on the next "Sweet Relief" record. "Sweet Relief" is a project that features one writer's songs (the first one had Victoria Williams, and this one has Vic Chesnutt) covered by lots of artists. We'll be doing a song called "dodge".

I'm presently listening to some really great records:
Golden Smog--a super side project from some members of Soul Asylum, Wilco and the Jayhawks.

Eric Matthews "It's heavy in here". The most beautiful record I've heard in a long time. Lots of trumpet and a beatiful voice. My favorite song of the year (i know it's early ) is on here, it's called "fried out broken girl".

"Dead Man Walking"--soundtrack. It's a really great bunch of songs all somehow related to one of the most amazing movies. It's a really stunning movie.

Also, I've delved back into Raymond Carver. I'm reminded again what a great writer he is. Check it out if you get a chance.

IF you've never read any ANDRE DUBUS, check out his collection called Selected Stories, or check out his book of essays, "broken vessels. He's the most incredible writer.

Well, that's about it for now, I hope all is well, and next week I'll be able to write about the adventures of touring Europe. It should be interesting at the very least.

Peter
