Macua
The last Portuguese colony in the East
Macau, a short one-hour fast-ferry ride from Hong Kong and you're in just another Chinese city -- except, there are a couple of very good Portuguese restaurants -- in particular those near the Marine Museum..and I'm thinking here of La Lorcha, my favourite. Go try the ox-tail soup.

What to see in Macau?

*  Some Portuguese historical building

*  Wonderful Portuguese restaurants at a much lower price than Hong Kong

*  Pretty good beaches -- relative to mainland China beaches
