| Peterhead Boys Club travelled to Kintore to play Kintore Boys Club in the second round of the Scottish under 13s cup to book a place in the national draw. Peterhead started well and within the first five minutes had two shots saved by the impressive Kintore keer from Steven Dvidson and Scott Kelly Peterhead kept up the pressure and a super cross from Aidan Innes was stroked home by Steven Davidson to put Peterhead in front. Peterhead were playing down the steep slope and were looking to build up a lead in the first half as they knew they would be under pressure in the second half. Scott Kelly placed a great ball into the path of Jack Mclean but his shot just went wide of the post. At this point Peterhead midfield were controlling the game and Kyle Ritchie was next to try a shot which was knocked by for a corner. The resulting corner from Scott Leckie was met by Jack Mclean but his shot was well saved by the Kintore keeper. A quick breakaway by Kintore was broken up by some hard tackling from Jamie Meek and Kieran Bruce as Kintore were gradually coming in to the game. Peterhead then were unlucky to see a header from Aidan Innes skim over the bar. Ryan Urquhart and Jason Bain were having to battle hard now as Kintore started to play some lovely football and were keeping Peterhead pushed back in defense. This pressure paid off for Kintore as the big centre half came up for a corner and headed a terrific header past Andrew Buchan in goals. With Peterhead still stunned by this goal Kintore scored again in the next minute to put them in front. Peterhead battled back and nearly scored when a pass back from the Kintore defender was met by Jack Mclean and his shot was saved by the keeer. Against the run of play Kintore broke away and with the Peterhead defence caught square the nippy centre forward lobbed the ball over the Peterhead keeper. Half Time 3-1 for Kintore. Scott Walker tried his luck with a dipping shot but again was well saved by the keeper and then Kyle Ritchie saw his effort tipped over the bar by the keeper. Kintore then began to win the battle in midfield and ther one touch football was beginning to trouble Peterhead and it came as no surprise when they opened up the defence and scored again with a dipping shot over the keeper. Peterhead had lost heart at this time and Kintore scored again when the defence were posted missing and their striker ran on and fired a shot past the unguarded keeper. To make matters worst for Peterhead Steven Davidson was sent off for a rash tackle and it was now all uphill for Peterhead. Peterhead reshuffled their team and the 10 men battled back into the game after Kyle Ritchie beat two defenders and scored with a low shot by the keeper. Kintore then scored after two brilliant saves by Andrew Buchan was not defended by Peterhead and the Kintore striker strolled by three defenders and scored. Peterhead battled away and were rewarded with a penalty which Jack Mclean converted past the big Kintore keeper. Final result 6-3 for Kintore. Peterhead were not at their best in this game and will have to improve to beat Ferryhill next Sunday in the final play off game for the A league. Man of the Match Aidan Innes. |
