Peterhead Boys Club travelled to Ayr over the Easter break to participate in the Easter and Spring Festival of Football.
The Ayr tournament is the largest of its kind in Scotland with 200 teams and over 5000 boys taking part over the different age groups.
The coaches of Peter Anderson, Steven McLean and Anne Urquhart were in no doubt that the boys would give a good account of themselves , as they had been showing good form latley against some very good Aberdeen teams in their home league.
Their first game on Tuesday morning was against Riada Soccer Scholl from Northern Ireland which the boys won 6-1 , scorers were Scott Kelly (1) Scott Leckie (3) and Aiden Innes (2) .
They took on Grangemouth BC in the afternoon and were victorious beating them 8-0 with Scorers Shaun Anderson (3) Kyle Ritchie (2) Aiden Innes (2) and Scott Leckie (1).
On the Wednesday they played Muirton BC from Glasgow and won 5-1 with the scorers being Shaun Andeerson Scott Leckie Kyle Ritchie Shaun Walker and Aiden Innes.
In total Peterhead came out on top of their qualifying group with the maximun 9 points , scoring 19 golas and losing only 2.
in the semi final on Thursday they played Canmore Colts from Angus and after going a goal down the Peterhead team treated the travelling support of around 60 to some first class football , coming back to score 2 goals and progressing to the final with Scott Leckie bagging a brace to add to his impressive total.
The Final was played later on  the same day . Their oppontents were the much fancied Ballywalter Rec Youth from Northern Ireland who had not lost a game in their own league for three years and had won this tournament the previous 2 years.
Peterhead were up for the final as they knew if they could produce the football thtt hey had been entertaining the crowds with all week they could upset the favourites.
after some lovely moves up the wing Scott leckie put Peterhead in front with a grat strike and this upset the Ballywalter confidence and after peterhead scored their secomd after the interval again from Scott leckie there was no stopping the rampant Peterhead  boys.As the final whistle blew the peterhead supporters and coaches went wild with delight and celebrations went on for hours after.
The boys were then treated to a spectacular presentation night with Allan McaNally the former Celtic and Bayern Munich star now a pundit with Sky TV handing out the trophies .
With the lights and cameras flashing the boys stood up to get their awards and to their surprise they were called back up on stage to receive the david Beckham Fair Play Award which goes to the most well behaved team in the tornament with the supporters also being marked for their conduct during matches. Well done Peterhead supporters and boys.
This award gives the team a chance to go to London to the David Beckham academy for coaching.
