Dining Room (Poetry)

Disquiet

The road ahead is quiet, gray and grim
As I walk down it silently
While all around me scenery grows dim
And much more difficult to see.

And as the landscape grows more indistinct,
The shadows round me grow more deep,
It seems to me that what I view is linked
With visions born of troubled sleep.

The forms take on the aspects of my fears
And grow more frightening as I tread
The pathway filled with sight and sound that sears
A soul grown weary with its dread.

But as these wildly winding visions seem
To overwhelm my failing sight,
The farthest shimmer of a distant gleam
Brings in a more revealing light.

The shapes grow more familiar again
And grow less fearsome to my eyes
As clouds roll back and show the restful glen
In which my hope and healing lies.

Unfortunately, both Masetto and Maitre D' were taken from us in July, but they leave us with fond memories. May Jalapeno and Sparky continue to bring us all the comfort and joy of which pets are capable.
