Profession; Prior to leaving School worked at Cradley Heath Market, at age 13, started by assisting caretaker cleaning up market, sweeping etc. Was taken on assisting the Fishmonger Les Hewitt, at 2 shillings and 6 pence, [12.5p] after school, Wednesdays, and Fridays, and 10 shillings [50p] all day Saturday, he was taught how to dress fish and poultry, and learned the trade. Peter was often seen at the entrance to the market, where the fish and poultry stall was situated,  drawing crowds by calling out to the public, and serving customers, Peter besides working Cradley Heath Market, Peter ran his own stall for Les, at Oldbury Market on a Saturday, at 15 he was taken on full time after leaving school. At an enormous  salary of �5. 10 shillings, [�5.50p] per week.  He also helped out at Halesowen Market, and worked at the shop and market in Blackheath. Peter's photograph working on the Market, can be seen in the book, Cradley Heath and Old Hill In Old Photographs. Peter felt like he was being exploited, so he left to re direct his future.
    Peter started work at Bridge Crystal, Glass works, Bridge Street, Cradley, as a Taker in, this was quite a increase in wages. However Peter was unable to settle he missed the Market life, {not the money}, and had a session of jobs including; Drivers mate, Chester Road, Cradley Heath, Working on the building with his brother Ken, at Tanhouse Estate, and Dawley New Town, He worked at Shaw's the Builders as a Bricklayers labourer,                        Peter Garbett, Continued;                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                  in Park Lane, Cradley, work included the gate house at  B S R Stourbridge, and Pedmore  Social Club, Worked on a concrete gang, at Bridgenorth, Shropshire, and built loading bay at company in the Hayes, Stourbridge, for Keith Wheel, Worked at Helix International, Engine Lane, Lye, as a packer, later a Driver, Worked on a Tarmac gang, in Oldswinford, Peter worked for Pensnett nut and bolt company, Coombe hill, Warley, as a warehouse man, worked as a civil engineer, building and laying the groundwork at Quarry Bank Service Station, He worked at Webb Ivory greeting's cards Halesowen, as a warehouse man, He ran a discotheque with his friend David Bate, Called Disco Dock, He worked at an engineering company in Park Lane, Cradley, called London Screw Company, as a Lathe operator, and worked at an engineering company, Hickmans, Stourbridge Road, Halesowen, He tried selling deep freezers, door to door, but hated it, then tried selling road sweepers to company's but did not like that either, He worked for Stourbridge Heating Services, Kingswinford,  later worked for his brother Keith, at J C L Pipework, and also at Lucas Combustion Engineers, also Midland Pipework Fabrications, and later, part time at Danvic,
    On the 16th September 1974, joined West Midlands Fire Service, as a Fireman, this was a major turning point, although money was poor, �33 per week pick up by 1976, it was a good career. Stationed Cradley Heath Fire Station, in Old Hill, for 9 years, Amongst the many fires attended, The Tudor House, and Haden Hall, at Haden Hill Park, was one saved whilst Peter was on duty, then moved to Sutton Coldfield, then Perry Barr, Birmingham, and Bickenhill, National Exhibition Centre, Birmingham. But stood by [temporary stationed] at all Coventry Stations, most Black Country Stations, and most Birmingham Stations.
    Whilst working for the Fire Service, Peter worked also at many part time jobs, including; Agency work, Lorry Driving, Window Cleaning, Granada T.V. Stirchley, Birmingham, As a collector,  Bought and sold antiques, Then at Pal T.V. Coventry as a collector, Ground support crew, for Coventry Helicopters, at shows around the country, Set up and ran Safe "n" Sound a safety Company, fitting of intruder alarms, Fire Alliance Company ltd, servicing and installing fire safety equipment, and training, Electrical Alliance, Electrical Engineers. And worked on industrial heating for his brother Keith.
   In 1990, Peter was retired from the fire service on a pension, as he was trapped in a tunnel, and became Claustraphobic, So he set up a Company called My Chauffeur, executive car hire, he stocked the company with Mercedes , Jaguar , and Daimler cars, a Daimler Limousine, and a Rolls Royce Silver Shadow. He took many brides to weddings, Took people to Royal Ascot, and other sporting events, and carried many Executives, and was on stand by cover for a European president. Took Chief executives, and more, including standard taxi driving.
    Peter worked for his son Jason who was Manager of the Leicester branch of Warmshield  Double Glazing company, as a salesman, on Jason's promotion to area manager, Peter was promoted to Leicester's manager.
   As the politicions say, Peter now wants to spend more time with his family.
