Bonnie Bramlett

Sessions

Some of Bonnie's best work is scattered thinly over a wide ranging selection of albums from the last 35 years or so.

Only original recordings are included in the list below, which is arranged alphabetically, by name of the main artist(s). Subsequent compilations and reissues of the same material, e.g. "Best Of..." albums, are ignored.

Some of these tracks wouldn't be out of place on one of Bonnie's solo albums. Collect a few and you can soon

make up a very worthwhile compilation album of your own. Other songs include strong duetting, or lead vocal duties for other artists. Yet others come with a mention of Bonnie on the album credits but truth be told, you really can't tell it's Bonnie singing.

The comments below are offered primarily as an initial guide to the extent and nature of Bonnie's contribution to each album. Further information and views are most welcome!

Enlightened Rogues

THE ALLMAN BROTHERS BAND

Enlightened Rogues

1979

"Crazy Love" - a duet from the honourary Allman Sister.

Bonnie toured with the Brothers in 1979 and put in some powerful perforances of this song, along with others such as "Midnight Rider" and the climax to most shows, "Will The Circle Be Unbroken".

Anthology Vol. II

DUANE ALLMAN

Anthology Vol. II

1974

"Come On In My Kitchen" - a classic live performance by Delaney & Bonnie and Friends, with Duane Allman on acoustic slide guitar. Short but oh, so sweet.

"Can't Lose What You Never Had" - an intimate, plaintive, soulful, demo from 1975.

This was one of many special treats on an outstanding, soulful collection of mainly unreleased material from brother Gregg.

ERIC CLAPTON

Eric Clapton

1970

Delaney & Bonnie and Friends, along with members of the The Crickets, provided the backing band for the whole of this album, Eric's first solo outing. Much criticised at the time, especially by those hankering after guitar heroics, the album stands up very well today. Delaney's influence on Eric's singing and the horn arrangements is a big plus. This strong set, performed with energy and enthusiasm. Includes "Let It Rain", which Bonnie co-wrote with Eric.

JOE COCKER

Stingray

1976

"Worrier" - a slow, melodic duet, with Eric Clapton adding some tasteful accompaniment on guitar.

Joe was in bad shape during the most of the seventies but still managed to deliver a series of excellent albums, including this one here. Consistently working with top rate musicians, Joe's studio work was often underrated because of erratic stage performances.

4 songs with lead vocals - excellent!

Nils shows he can do bluesy slide with a gospel feel and turns in a soundtrack album that stands up well without the film. Bonnie is given plenty of place to shine and she... shines. The other tracks are good too but Bonnie's are:

"Tender Love" (8:40)

"No Tomorrow" (6:30)

"Tryin' Not To Fall" (4:25)

"Fallen Into His Hands" (8:45)

THE MIGHTY JEREMIAHS

2005

Jimmy Hall (Wet Willie, Jeff Beck) and Greg Martin (Kentucky Headhunters) started this project, with guests including Bonnie Bramlett, Phil Keaggy and more. A dose of bluesy gospel, with a mix of traditional and original songs, delivered in a no nonsense manner. The mood ranges from Elmore James with attitude to delicate accoustic picking and mostly comes with a deffinite edge. A natural setting for Bonnie's voice on a few numbers.

Going Down: The Songs Of Don Nix

2002

Four songs with great lead lines by Bonnie, plus others on backing vocals.

Newly recorded but reminiscent of the best of what Don Nix got up to in the seventies, this time with support from an impressive roster of friends, including Bobby Whitlock on tasteful Hammond, Dann Pen and Steve Cropper. A love and feel for the music proves more important than tight vocal harmonies on this highly enjoyable album, which also seems to have Bonnie in her element.
