There are many artists I admire.  These are mainly painters working directly from observation.  I am extremely proud to be a member of the New English Art Club and am in awe of the present and past membership:   www.newenglishartclub.co.uk   Members include Ken Howard, Bernard Dunstan, Richard Pikesley, John Ward, Martin Yeoman, Tom Coates, Dawn Sidoli, David Parfitt, Charles Williams, Ruth Stage to name just a few utterly fantastic painters.
Other Artists I admire
David Cobley RP RWA:
A big influence on my work since the day I first laid eyes on one of his paintings is my mate Cobo (David Cobley).  The way he handles paint makes me drool and his eye is wicked - he is what the word lush was invented for:
Ben Hughes:
Ben joined Widcombe Studios three and a half years ago.  I think we have similar ideas on what we feel is good painting.  Every time I walk by his space I always do a second take.  He has a natural facility to make the most striking images.  I love his water and light and presently what bargain prices - for how long I wonder though.

I am obsessed with Peter Greenham at the moment.  He was keeper at the RA Schools and died in 1992.  His painting appears the absolute opposite to mine and is what I aspire to.... one day...maybe.  I am currently putting together a small bit of blurb about him on the NEAC site (as at 24/01/2003).
