| Where I've Been Alot of my friends in sydney keep asking about me and where have I been.Well to all my good friends in sydney, thanks for your interest and concern I really apreciate that and it means alot to me knowing that some people out there actually still remember me.Yes kids,I'm still alive and kicking but unfortunatley I've had alot of injuries and health problems which have really slowed me down and I'm currently on strong medication. I Suffered A pretty bad Wrist injury about 1 Year ago now which has really Marred my life and slowed me down considerabley. How this Injury actually happened was an old friend of mine was trying to push his car because it had broken down and I just had to help him because I'm his mate, and I couldn't say no.The car was very heavy and we were pushing for A while.Anyway I went to see A Doctor the day after because by that stage my right Wrist had blown up like A baloon as A result from pushing this broken down car.I walked in to the Medical Centre and before the Doctor could even closley examin it,he took one look at my Surverly Sprained wrist and said "AH you've got golden wrist my boy!" The doctor gave me some Cream to put on my Wrist.I then actually went to see my own Family doctor who is at the Castle Hill Medical centre and who I used to see when I was younger living in Baulkham Hills. The doctor had A good look at my wrist an Assesed it as A surverly Sprained Wrist and wrapped A bandage around it and told me to take it easy.I then drove back home to Newcastle basicly One handed to scared to used my Injured right Wrist. After 2 weeks it felt A little better then I found this really nice caring doctor up here in newcastle. After examing it my new doctor said "Well all your fingers are working fine and Responding, you've still got good strength in your hand, and it doesn't look to bad it's NOT serious you just need to let it Heal and Rest it.It will get better but this could take A very Long time to Heal even longer than A person with A broken bone.I'll get you an X-ray and An unltrasound done just to be on the safe side then Slowly Gradually start to do Physiotherapy" Well after another 1 month of rest It was geting more better but still bothering me at times. Then I went to see my Physio Adele.Adele examined it and bandaged it up,then 1 week later made me A wrist brace to wear, moulded to my hand.I've also done various strengthning excersises like geting one of those stress balls where you squash it everyday for A few times building up stength. After A while of rest and then physio it's goten alot better but still bothers me at times.I've also had problems with my soar Right shoulder which gets really saw at times and sometimes even hurts just by puting my arm straight up in the air.I've also had an infection in my left eye,It was bright red, itchy, iritating and soar.Sometimes it would just stay shut, other times I Could barley see out of it and got blured vision. My doctor examined it and told me I have conjuctivites,I have to take these eye drops and Cream to put in my eye everyday. It's gotten alot better in time.I've also been having very bad throat problems and constantly loosing my voice 3 or 4 times over the last month and my throat just get's so saw I can't even talk it hurts so much.So again I went to the doctor. The doctor looked down my throat and said "You've got A slight build up of rubbish on your tonsils,it will get better in time.Try taking some strepsils or mouthwash" Well I've been taking strepsils, but my throat for me personally is just an ongoing problem.Sometimes it just get's saw even from talking.I also hurt my right knee,I was sitting at A desk with both of my knees under the desk, and I felt something on my ankle.I was startled and scared and I jumped 10 feet in the air,and as a result I smashed my right knee under the desk. When I looked down to see what scared me,Thinking maybe A Cockroach or spider,It was my brothers dog!Can you believe it?I can because I was limping for 1 week and even had trouble geting out of bed in the mornings, that's how saw it was,It's geting better though. It's not the first time the dog has caused me an Injury,You see it's not good to have the dog locked up inside all day. After all he is A Dog and likes to go outside,do his business and go for A Walk.So I got this long rope for him and tied him up outside with plenty of room to move around and also being able to get to the front yard. But he didn't have shelter out there,no kennel.I came up with this Great Idea,I ran downstairs and started looking For A Cardboard box to use as his Little house and I'd put A Blanket inside for him.But I could only find A Cardboard box with both ends were opened so I Had to Tape One of them Shut.BAD MOVE and I Wish I Didn't!You see I ran around the house everywhere looking for Sticky tape but only found this TINY Little role of tape which was so Narrow and so small. But I was DYING To see the dog in his new House,So For the next 1/2 An Hour (And this is how I Injured my arm) I contiunaley kept geting tiny strips of Tape out to Tape up the Box.I eventually finished and Now if you come up here and look at the box That I taped up outised you can see Alot of tape on the back of it from me.Anyway Later that night my right Arm,Elbow was absolutley aching in pain and didn't go away.I Rushed to my doctor and after examining it said "Peter unfortunatley you've got Epicondilites (More commonly known as Tennis Elbow) It could take A long Time to heal.Rest it and Take anti-inflamatories." You see even when I Turn on A Light switch My arms and Elbows ache,no joke!I lift up A simple 2 Litre bottle of milk and I'm in Alot of Pain.My physio has given me some good treatment on it but I asure you It's still saw now. Also because I've been using computers for A Long time now,and sometimes spend Hours A Day on,about 3 Months Ago my fingers and hands started geting saw from pressing the keyboard buttons and using the mouse. My whole hands Really Heated up and Got saw,it got so bad that one night My fingers were aching and My hands were basicly on fire and when I woke up the next day they were STILL Saw and aching.I rushed to the doctor and the doctor said "Peter you've spent FAR To much time on the computer, you've got tendons and muscles in your hands which you've obviously Overused and Strained and that's why their saw.The reason your hands feel like their on fire is because You've Inflamed the fluid in your Hands.I'll give you these Anti-Inflamitories to take everyday,Rest your hands, take A break from computers for A while" I took Anti Inflamitories for 2 months and had to eventually stop taking them due to SERVERE stomach aches which chemist's and doctor's told me about COULD happen. FINALLY the fire went away, but even now my hands are constantly Warm and NEVER go cold! You know when you wake up in the morning and your hands are cold, well my Aren't there ALWAYS Warm.It really got to me for A While there,I was Going crazy runing around trying to cool my hands, puting them in water everyday,Iceing them but all to no avail.I HATED COMPUTERS for A while and DIDN'T use mine for A SOLID MONTH!That's right I stopped cold turkey!I've asked my doctor about when will my hands ever go cold again, what can I Do to fix this Problem, will this Permanent Warm feeling ever go away in my hands? My Doctor told me "I'm sorry peter I Don't Know" It's very upseting and frustrating but there's not much I Can do about it,I've just had to live with this Heat and constant sawness in my hands FOREVER!I try NOT to talk about the bad state of my Hands because I REALLY MISS MY HANDS BEING COLD! I really do miss all my good friends in sydney alot and all the Great times we had together,I often think back to the old Days and all the great memories I have like the time's we all used to go to Meadowbank,Manly and through the city for A drive.Unfortunatley for me though,I'm NOT geting any younger I'm 28 now. After all the years of traveling back and forth sydney to newcastle "Going out with the Boys" Time and time again,it's really all caught up with me,it's taken it's toll on my body Physically and Mentally and it shows. The last few Sydney to Newcastle trips seemed to be geting longer and On the last trip back here to Newcastle I Almost didn't make it.I think I'm suffering from what People call "Burnout" the term is asociated alot with people who play sport. For example A Young Tennis Player who's only 18,but at the Peak and Prime of his/her carrer may have been constantly Playing tennis just about everyday since he/she was 12 years old.Now that there 18 ready for the Big Time-The Next Step,Their physically and Mentally Exhausted from all the years of tennis (There's no more petrol in the Tank).Well that's what I Feel like now at my age,I Just don't have that spring in my step, that get up and go like I Used to.All the Injuries,Viruses and Stress I've had has really slowed me down alot and taken it's toll,I'm WELL Past my prime. But as I Said I'll NEVER forget the "Old Days" and have some great memories to remember. If any of my friends are ever up this way please feel free to drop in and say hello to An old Friend. |
